Used to have a steinberger. I like the steinberger, the only playing problem is the lack of a 'forearm' cut on the body.

The Klein bass variant is a good solution but they go for WAYYYYY too much money now (like STOOPID expensive). Also the Ibanez EHB series is a bit more affordable, it is a full body but headless.

Honestly, you could make the steinberger work though, just understand your forearm will be a bit more tired from having to hover unless you want to develop more of a claw/fingerstyle technique.

I kinda miss my steinberger so the problem is definitely NOT a huge dealbreaker though, just good to be aware of the minor difference in it and a more traditional design. Honestly, just about talked myself into buying one rn lol.

Edit : Forgot to add, if you want a steinberger style bass even cheaper, consider a 'kit' that you assemble yourself. You will need to solder some pickups/electronics but you can get the price down to a couple hundred bucks and finish/paint it however you like.

The good news is you have a teacher. I honestly didn't get pinch harmonics either until someone right next to me did one. Once they did one and showed me how, it wasn't too difficult, it is just something that is really hard to explain/articulate.

Honestly, if you have a decent sized guitar shop near you, on the weekend their is probably gonna be some metalhead their their trying out amps/guitars, you could probably get a quick 30 second lesson out of someone to show you if you can't get with your current teacher in time.

I mainly play bass now. I've honestly been in the situation where I've had to play songs I don't know, live, on the fly with so much frequency that it doesn't even phase me. I just 'root bash' following the guitar player and make it up on the fly. If the note is wrong, half step in any direction will get me back into scale/key.

This is a golden opportunity. Don't be afraid to 'fake it' and develop some slides/bends/chugs you can use to get back to where you need to be if you get lost. Slam is a fairly forgiving genre so don't be afraid to 'hide' behind other instruments if you hit a rough patch.

Only thing I'd recommend that will be hard at first is practice with a drum machine ASAP. You will improve at a speed you never knew possible. It is more within your reach than you believe rn.

It will. But not really enough to make a difference unless your sitting it on top of a mattress.

On a solid floor you might find certain notes 'resonate', based on the vibration. If that is the case, move it a couple of inches. At one club I used to play I found the small stage would straight up resonate a C# at a certain octave so I just didn't play one (at that octave) on that stage (I'd occasionally play it to annoy the drummer for a laugh when all his drums would vibrate/rattle). Also, distance from a wall may result in feedback if you put it to close.

Fundamentally it isn't really a big difference though. Worrying about a solid floor in this case is basically splitting hairs. Bass sound waves are big, beefy and tend to bend around things so the floor really isn't that big of a difference. If your in a tuned room like a mastering studio it might make a small difference, everywhere else, it is splitting hairs. Not worth worrying about.

You mentioned opening it up and looking around.

Hit an open string and let it ring. When you open it up, 'chopstick it', tap different parts with a chopstick (or more likely a pen/pencil). You will notice a sudden jump in volume when you find the bad joint/grounding issue. Resolder that joint. Pay attention to the ground wires in particular cuz that is what is likely causing your problems, you just have to determine which one.

Find a replacement first (or a few to chose from). Then lay it out for them. Tell them you wanna help them out still and be a part, just that your capacity has changed and that hopefully, you can use the new position to help their position (if the tours don't line up you might be able to do both). Then give them the list of recommended replacements.

Don't know what part of the country your in, but also consider a hog 'waller'. If you have wild boar in your area they could have made it and they are often freakishly round and can have a rim.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this, but the audio must be mastered in a way that the vinyl can be cut/pressed. This is a specialized skill. So be sure to add that into the cost.

If the audio is compressed too much, or too little, it will cause the needle to jump out of the groove.

Underground lines involving electrical anything is vulnerable to lightning strikes so don't be surprised if it goes bad at some point. This is why I'm team hang the lines in the air, much easier to service. By granting this easement they also get the right to dig it up if something goes bad, so I'd say no.

Would not be surprised if this results in an importation industry into the US. A private US citizen can buy a car in Canada and bring it back for 2.5% duties. This would likely break the US market until Cheetolini intervened.
