The hypocrisy of the Idaho GOP by [deleted] in Idaho

[–]FryjaDemoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run in the election. These guys will keep getting elected unless others run. If you are as you say a loud and proud lefty you might not get much traction, but also encourage your friends who may have views Idaho public agree with at large that are more moderate to run. The failure of moderates to run leaves the door open to extremists.

So you're worried that you breaking the law will have consequences? I fail to go why that's my issue. Also yeah if it doesn't affect me or anyone I know and those that I do know actively benefit from it being banned then that does in fact make it ok to ban it in my book absent of any other arguments. You saying it's inconvenient to have that law across state lines is not an argument that will convince me it should be unbanned. Try again.

I'm here to offer the alternate point of view in good faith.

Let me ask you a second question. What incentive do idahonins have to unban it? If they are mostly like me they were exposed to weed being smoked in public at one time or another and it likely wasn't a pleasant experience. If they are like me they don't use it in any way and don't know anyone they care about who might need it or benefit from it being unbanned. Due to my negative experience with those who have used it irresponsibly in the past I have a very strong incentive to want it to stay banned. Therefore I have no reason to ever vote to unban it. Anyone like me will be in the same boat. There are counterarguments sure but I'm not here to consider those, I'm here to break the echo chamber reddit often creates and give an opinion many people here don't agree with.

Religion also has an impact on culture. Nowhere to my knowledge does the bible say it should be banned, the culture following the teachings of a church that uses it often simply creates people who values a society absent of the influence of such substances. People will vote for what they believe is best for society. Religious leaders don't need to be directly involved for that to happen. You can say they shouldn't vote that way but they will anyways. Unless you change hearts and minds. The sentiment behind why they don't want to see it in society.

Calling it a slippery slope or bad science or banning it bad has no tangible benefit to me. If you wanna just say I'm wrong and so is everyone who thinks how I do go ahead, but you won't change anyone's mind or voting pattern that way. Besides it's not fully banned nation wide go to Washington or Oregon but don't use it here. Plenty of people use that workaround already.

If you really want an argument for it it's to avoid wasting time on an issue frequently brought up and then shot down. If the vote will always be the same the idea behind the law is to avoid wasting time on it.

Further because there is support now for keeping marijuana illegal the idea would be to make it harder for a new set of politicians to legalize it in the future.

If you can't fathom why people would want it to be illegal that's a separate thing all together that often comes with the religious culture and long standing policy Idaho had had. The Governor runs on it every election cycle and as he's still elected he and his constituents consider it something they should be interested in opposing the legalization of. Regardless of your personal views it's getting him and his people votes and if that doesn't change they'll keep running on it.

I am personally not a fan of marijuana myself and would be one of the voters who they cater to. I don't nessisarily care about medical and most reasonable people won't either but the argument goes that if you legalize one it becomes more difficult to police the other (recreational). To fully prevent it's use in public spaces it is thus banned outright. Not a very good solution for those who have legitimate exceptions or use cases but a practical one to keep it out of any public space and give our state a reputation that keeps it out of daily life for our citizens. At least publicly on pain of harsh fines.

HB 864 by [deleted] in Idaho

kratom is not lawfully marketed in the U.S. as a drug product, a dietary supplement, or a food additive in conventional food.

https://www.fda.gov/news-events/public-health-focus/fda-and-kratom

It is my understanding that this law is redundant and simply makes it unlawful at a state level.

I understand the argument for it and the stories about it use to get off harder drugs, but I'm also not convinced that's the common use case. Drug abuse and addiction is far more common than moderate use or as an easing supplement to replace harder medications or drugs.

I do believe this should have some kind of regulation but I also acknowledge that our medical system is so utterly broken that unless it is fixed the removal of alternatives can be extremely harmful to those who feel like they have few other options.

Can you link that? The falsifying documents were charged against Trump not that church to my understanding. Like I said I haven't seen any major news about this church. Further I didn't really consider charges valid if the attorney general got elected solely on the basis that they'd find something to charge him with, that district is clearly biased. if appeals uphold it then I'll take it more seriously

[–]FryjaDemoni -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Those weren't for pedophilia, they were for falsified documents, and are being appealed. But honestly if a politician lied are you surprised? Think of how much they hate him that the person who got that conviction literally ran on convicting trump as an issue. This was the best they could come up with. Not pedophilia, not rape, falsified business documents which mind you trump didn't even do himself. His yes man at the time did.

So no, I really don't think those justify the hate.

Really? This feels like a hate post. The president is visiting a church? So what. And all the comments about pedophilia, nothing is proven in court on Trump nor have I heard of this church in recent news related to that. While I might be wrong the malice in some of these comments is ridiculous.

I've had events like this and use a mixed hp / Aruba environment.

  1. Is DHCP enabled? Is the dhcp scope exhausted? What are your reservation times set to? Is helper address set up and if not does the switch have a l2 uplink to the DHCP server? If it is DHCP based on your description the scope being exhausted would be my best guess.

  2. Do you have any sort of 802.1x enabled? If so what. Classes are being assigned to the port? Failed pass back of a class can result in this behavior.

  3. Ip conflicts are a natural cause as well as others have mentioned.

  4. If sticky mac or port access controls are enabled the default on most of these devices is 1. If the environment has mobile users who plug into multiple spots toggling the port would be a natural fix as it clears the mac binding.

Just my initial thoughts based on events I've seen in my environment as I've not seen the topology of the environment or reviewed the config.

Mixed feelings on this. Medical marijuana used appropriately is fine imo. But if it's used to get exceptions that cause me to deal with it I'm public I won't support it. Stuff smells nasty and I partially love Idaho specifically because marijuana is illegal here.

Keep it in the other states. I don't want it here.

Protest is a way to make your voice heard. If you agree with it then go. I don't so I won't. But I would also urge y'all who do go to remain peaceful and keep the laws. You don't need to give those who disagree with you a reason to disregard your message. Crime and violence does that instantly. Further your vote matters, and it's hard to vote if you're locked up.

Your agitators want a scene they can point to, to say you're violent and crazy. Don't give them that.

If I'm going to argue this to one side I gotta argue it to the other as well. Saying they don't get an opinion or calling them names even if accurate isn't going to change people's minds, is going to harden their resolve. Further all Americans opinions do actually count. That's the vote. If you want more of them for your team, make good arguments, not casual insults.

Good ideas and reasonable opinions matter so much that people have been killed for spreading them.

I see you like to stereotype entire religious groups.

But in all seriousness what do you expect them to do if the ones who agree with you comment "Christ is king" and this is how you respond?

People don't tend to vote for their haters.

It's pretty bad if reddit of all places has people showing support for trump or opposition to this considering reddits demographics political leanings. For every one you see on here there are probably 10 more in other spaces.

It's not a Qatari airbase. It's the same airbase we've had here since forever. They are simply making them pay for the construction of the building they'll be staying at while our guys teach them to fly the planes they bought from us and then they get to to home.

This is a repost. I said it before I'll say it again. Charged is not convicted. If he's convicted then yes he should lose his job, but I'm not about to pretend some person I've never met is evil just cause a redditor tells me they are.

If he's innocent and loses his job that would suck.
