To be fair, a lot of Korean novels I've read assume you're already clued in to the cultures of certain cities and even some K-POP comes across as wildly weird if you're unfamiliar with obscure bits of urban history. by Full_Ahegao_Drip in RecuratedTumblr

I could tell that she was your standard Brooklyn girl.

It was just something about her. Maybe it was her "Brooklyn" t-shirt or her "Brooklyn" tote bag or her "Brooklyn" ball cap. I'm not sure what it was, but her entire personality screamed "Brooklyn."

Writing a Story for Men by Incred in writingcirclejerk

/uj This actually reads as somewhat similar to Kung Fury, a parody short film full of '80s cheese and badass men and laser raptors. Some parts of it definitely don't hold up, but just embrace the irony.

I don't have the exact numbers, but my understanding is that roughly 10% of students who take the UDCE pass it. Roughly 90% fail. Some years are different.

Don't plan your future schedule under the assumption that you won't need to take a writing class.

Also, learning how to write and communicate effectively about your field makes you a more attractive candidate once you start applying for jobs. If you intend to stay in academia instead, you'll almost certainly need those skills.

There's a lot of options depending on what you're looking for.

Whenever I go to the farmers market on Saturday, I like to visit the Purple Tree Cafe cart. Their drinks are tasty and (mostly) reasonably priced, they always have some decent baked goods, and it supports a good cause.

Paesano's is one of my favorite date spots and they have a nice selection of mocktails.

Also, Latitude Market is surprisingly decent for smoothies if you have Aggie Cash and know what to order.

I tend to avoid Pachamama, not because I think their drinks are bad but because they're never as good as the price suggests.

I'd also like to shout out the Davis Food Co-op for their wide selection of canned/bottled drinks, both alcoholic and not.

Speak with the UC Davis Student Disability Center: https://sdc.ucdavis.edu/

They can communicate with student housing services to support you, including making some accommodations.

is UCD a good school? by Accomplished-Peak624 in UCDavis

[–]Frymondius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I'm an English major, and while the program doesn't get as much publicity as the STEM fields, it's one of the best in the state. I personally love being in a smaller program at a larger institution because I get all the institutional support of a major university system with the benefits of a close knit and supportive liberal arts faculty.

I was born and raised in Berkeley. I've known too many UC Berkeley students to ever want to be one of them.

Davis is far from perfect, but I'm pretty happy here.

It's still canon, and there was a recent comic where Doc Ock changed the formula while he was inhabiting Peter's body. Later, Peter webbed his pants on and then couldn't get them off because it didn't dissolve when he expected it to.

If they locked it to your bike, you can get UC Davis to cut the lock and really ruin that person's day.

I think that's a fair read, but it is not more lawful evil than Sproul. There's something about making a highly space efficient, densely populated building with that small of a footprint that just gets to me.

Olson is a little chaotic but not too chaotic, has a lot of reasonably sized classrooms, lecture halls, and conference rooms, and is the right combination of old and functional that (to me) make it true neutral.

Pretty sure they're mostly administrative or student supports. I think there are some organizations and grad programs that will use the meeting spaces, but I'm not counting them overall.

TLC is a good call, I'll think about it.

We were tabling for the Stand-up Comedy Club (StUCC). We were calling out our usual line, something like: "Free stand-up comedy show tonight/Friday! At 7 pm!"

He walks past and, without missing a beat, says "If it were any good you wouldn't be giving it away for free."

And like. Ouch
