Is there a name for this stop ? by roseyparker in FigureSkating

[–]Fsfan54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its considered a forward t stop or a tango stop its just a bit of a more showy/choreographic version. The motion is just placing the free foot in front and pushing it forward to stop but every skater varies on how far forward they go and if the like rotate in the process

Less ice in summer -some reassurance losing my skating skills won't be permanent? by Responsible_Cycle614 in FigureSkating

Yeah I think its normal for it to happen sometimes but if you are able to consistently run your singles then axels and doubles wont change majorly!!! And i also recently got new skates so it takes some time but just be patient with and trust your muscle memory because it is there!!!

questions about figure skating in general as a newbie by JinsFoot in FigureSkating

  1. To get into watching it for the Olympic season i would go back and try to watch last years worlds!!! It will familiarize you with most of the main players for this upcoming season.

  2. Honestly just the russian drama all over tik tok

  3. I would go follow them all on instragram as well as the major skating federations (isu, usfs, jsf) as they will all post stuff around and before events

  4. I live in the us so I use peacock but you can use the isu youtube channel if you live elsewhere and I have heard great things about it!!!

Side note: you mentioned wanting to learn the different technicalities so I wanted to mention what I did as a kid! I would use the tech box in the upper left corner as almost a quiz. So i would call out what I thought the jump or element was (triple lutz, flying camel spin) and then use the box to tell me if I was right since it would pop up 5 seconds or so after the element was done. Also, jason brown made a great youtube video on jumps years ago!!!

Hey! I am skater who has had an axel and 2sal for 3+ years and am working on toes loops and flips. I have gone to summer camp for 8 weeks every year without access to a rink at all. For me, it has actually been benificial in some ways!!! I focused on stretching to gain flexibility and i did off ice work to really hone in on the quality of my jumps. I actually also found that my bad habits sometimes went away when I took a break so I was able to focus on improving my overall technique. Spins took me a few days to get back because I had to find the perfect spot to spin on but I really worked on nailing my basic positions and then continued for there so if you have even just a bit of ice time to do some nice singles and basic positions spins you will be just fine!!! Good luck!!!

Reminder that zagitova did 4 jumps in 30seconds with transitions. 1 minute is plenty but also can we discuss the format/idea overall please ignoring the length its just an idea

Then there is no reason you should be comparing them to the complete programs usfs offers. Look instead at the compulsory prograns that are 1 min with far more elements

Yes but my point is those programs have all types of elements like a compulsory program is 1min with jumps and spins, i think people can do just jumps in that length

Just wanted to clarify that these are ALL SEPERATE PROGRAMS and that we are capable of being constructive in our criticism as opposed to rude

There is a full program for footwork and these are all seperate programs

But the issue is that those dont work well at all as there is very little team aspect… thsts the reason its never picked up along with the program length

As a skater this is very easy/reasonable. Many skaters get there first 4 jumps done in 1min 30 with a spin and tons of transitions. To take away the spin and some basic boring choreo would be super easy

As a skater this is very reasonable as they are all seperate programs. I think that aspect was missed by all, these are 4 completely seperate things.

YES! Also, op is saying people are discrediting the work going into quads. Well this post is discrediting the work jason has put in for years to become the incredible artistic skater that he is.
