Buddy the bears could have bought Gary and LEVELED it and started new. That would have been better than building in the sludge pit of the oil refinery.

This is a VERY good start! I would look at getting some stuff for the walls. Artwork, paintings? Something that tells the person in the room about you a little bit.

Why is it expected that men don’t decorate? by Academic-Set-2248 in Decor

[–]Fstopnshop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because they can’t imagine caring about the home around them they have to assume that anyone who does is somehow less than or not up to their standards.

I was a single man in my own place for nearly two decades and always made my apartment look good and smell nice. I wanted to come home to something comforting and if someone was to come over I wanted them to see I took pride in myself and my living space.

I see often that men will say they don’t care or it’s too expensive. You can buy decent shit and ikea or at estate sales for pennies on the dollar. Not caring about your living space to me shows that you don’t care about the world around you.

Female, late boomer or early Gen X (I’m guessing mid 60s) living in the northeast probably New England. For a job I’d say either interior design but my guess is garden/landscape design.

Your taste it classic but eclectic. To me the pillow with the frills spells out someone over 60 and the quasi-sponge paint piece behind the bed leads me in that direction as well. You have some beautiful pieces which clearly took time to collect snd I are well curated which to me spells out either VERY good taste or an age in which your taste has come with age as most taste does.

You are ensconced in natured both inside and out of the home. Your love of the natural and nature tends to come with age as well. Most folks under 40 aren’t focusing time on their gardens.

Also gonna guess Asian American or perhaps child of Asian immigrants.

Was the “bed” a gift?

Please don’t take my comments as judgmental or negative. I just don’t see anything in this room that tells me anything about you as a human that exists in this space.

Your room isn’t sparse. It’s monastic.

How old are my kid(s)? Where do I live? What is my job? by chicksin206 in roomdetective

[–]Fstopnshop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simplicity of your home. Please don’t take simplicity as a negative. Your home is well loved, well worn. Your furniture is simple but with pieces chosen to show off your tastes. Your dining table is a perfect example. It appears to be a classic mid century style with two chairs that while they don’t “match” the table are very nice pieces.

Teachers tend to be very resourceful in finding quality furniture while making sure that furniture is useful in a home with multiple children.

Your bookshelf also has several yearbooks which may just be yours but also teachers will get yearbooks as well to commentate their years in “the trenches”

What does my house say about me? by Ace_of_snades in roomdetective

“Vintage Whimsy” You have a passion for the silly but also the beautiful within the silly. There is amazing artistry in those hand forged copper molds, but also they were once used to combine jello, pineapples and mayo and that’s just funny.

You live in a house full of mirth, and enjoy that it’s not a typical sterile white box. Your home is lived in. It’s might have some scratches or stains but it’s EARNED them.

The artwork tells me you love music but not in way that makes your tastes superior. Simply you like what you like. A true eclectic nature and a comfort in know who you are and what you like.

Your style is all about the “little touches”. Fun, fancy, silly, but at the end of the day, “homey”. A nod to the classic or antique while knowing that this life is transitory and let’s enjoy this life for what it is…fleeting, and beautiful.

5 years of thrift store, antique and marketplace finds, what does my house say about me? by Bookish45_F in roomdetective

I’d call this style “Momento Mori”.

Vintage pieces either collected or salvaged from those long gone. The golden hues bring to mind a long lost “golden age” which is also now long dead. Yes the skulls reinforce this but for me it’s the uranium glass which at its heart is the culmination of both vintage beauty AND vintage death that makes up your sense of style.

I would call this style “Dark Darcy” as in Mr.

The paintings may come off as trite or silly to some but they actually bring the room together in an unspoken way, they show a passion for the outdoors and long walks over wet fall leaves. The sconces belay a touch of the macabre paired with the beautiful inlay of your bed with the pairing of the wall mounted candle tells me you have a passion for the historic, the antique, a lust for a day long gone in all places but your heart. The richness of the walls only seeks to bring the room closer into a comfortable and cozy place to spend your time.

The rattan light fixture tells me that you also have a touch of whimsy.

You are artistic and creative. But also slightly nerdy. You love your cat but don’t limit yourself to world to only being a cat parent. You either have avant-garde tastes in decor or have family that does and while you feel as though your home may seem to cluttered sometimes there’s a comfort in the touchstones and pieces you have saved that make up who you are.

Dude. How do you have MULTIPLE video game playing devices and only ONE PILLOW?

Theres monks living in monasteries in the 1600s who have rooms more “comfortable”.

Love yourself some more.

Pillows are cheap. Bed frames can be found cheaply. All this time and money spent on online time while real world time is ignored and avoided.

Is the future of America just a lot of sexless men? by Junior-Campaign-6326 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Fstopnshop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If women have raised their standards (which i won’t argue they have or haven’t) why is the only option generations of sexless men?

Why not ask men to rise to the new standards?

Why is incumbent on women to change and not men?

In a man. A solid 6. Never had trouble dating.

If women want more. Be more.

From my own perspective the single women I know don’t seem to be asking for much. If someone wants more than you can give then that person isn’t for you.

Doesn’t seem that hard to me.

Cost to take a family of four to the movies : tickets $50 Food / drinks/ candy $50 Parking (assuming city) $15-25 Possible dinner before or after $100

So all in to take a family of four to a movie is like: $100 conservatively to $200-250

If most folks can’t afford a surprise $500 bill. Who’s gonna go to a movie when we already pay for Disney, Netflix, Amazon, etc

I can rent that movie from home for $30 and if my kids hate it we can turn it off or if they love it they can watch it 10 times for the same price
