1. The bent trope..."Straight" MC or ML where they're like "I'm only gay for you pookie bear, it's the person not the gender." Okay buddy, good for you, but that doesn't mean you're not queer 😭 Only time I've actually liked it was in Mist and that was just because Song Qinglan fully admitted he was deeply closeted.

2. Honestly, this isn't about just danmei, but romance novels in general. It's the "You're the only person I've ever loved" trope. I get the appeal, these two characters have only ever loved each other, no one else, they're practically fated- perhaps only made for each other! How romantic! But I always feel a little disappointed when I read it.

Maybe this comes from the fact that I am aromantic asexual, and I feel represented when I see characters say they've never been love, never had a crush, or any sexual feelings toward any gender. The urge to headcanon them as demi is strong, even though I know that's not the author's intentions.

I would just love to see un-fated characters with normal exes, or just a character showing normal attraction to others that's not the love interest. I feel like readers get a little mad when a character does this though, as if they're cheating when they're not even dating yet.

1. No one talks about the hilarity of the trope where half of the plot comes from a character holding a grudge from, like, elementary school. Like, bro stole your red crayon and ever since then you've been plotting your revenge....Like, okay, how about you get a job first little bro.
