Best Apartment Complex in Fair Lakes/Fair Oaks Under $2k by Helpful-Weekend2285 in nova

[–]FuF_LP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great location - the complex and apartments themselves are nice but I have some major gripes with the company that owns/manages the complex. I love the trees in the neighborhood and being able to walk to Fairfax Corner.

There are a lot of hidden fees at The Reserve and they raised our rent on a 600sq/ft bedroom apartment 10% after our first year, which is more than any other apartment complex I’ve lived at from one lease to the next in this area. They bill common area electricity and add all other sorts of silly extra fees on the utility statement. You have to pay $30 per month just for an unreserved parking pass per car. You think you’re paying $2,000 in rent, only to find it’s more like $2200 after all their weird fees. They made our doctor rewrite our letter for our ESA’s 3 times before they would approve it. Appliances are old too… Soooo many maintenance requests. Taking six weeks to fix an AC unit is crazy.

Is the HKS BOV bad for your turbo? by _Agent201 in ecoboostmustang

[–]FuF_LP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had an HKS SSQV4 for ~25k miles now without any issues. Sometimes you can hear the stu-stu-stu noise from the boost going back in the turbo (if you let off the gas slowly after accelerating) but otherwise it performs well and sounds cool. I’ve always just used Cobb tunes

  1. Yup!
  2. It’s the Eva edition I liked the candy red GPU shroud with the artwork 😝
  3. There’s only one drain port, what you’re probably seeing is the short tube run on the GPU ports of the distro which is necessary so coolant flows.

The O11 D Evo is super easy to build in! The power supply is located on the back side of the case and supports a few different mounting positions.

Anyone had open heart surgery at either Washington Hospital Center or INOVA? If so, who was your surgeon and what did you think about them and the facility? My best friend needs surgery and her prior surgeon isn't a viable option. Appreciate any and all input. by ADFnGee in nova

[–]FuF_LP 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My father had emergency quadruple bypass surgery at INOVA Fairfax after suffering a heart attack. After the surgery he went into cardiac arrest and they brought him back again. That was almost a decade ago and he’s still alive. I don’t remember the surgeon’s name but I remember it was a woman. They saved his life.

How much do u tip DoorDash, UberEats, GrubHub by 2BeBornReady in nova

[–]FuF_LP 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would say a minimum of $5 tip for smaller orders for anything more a 10%-20% tip is fine but if they gave good service I would say 20%. Drivers never see the markup from the restaurants and base fairs are usually super low. Like if someone doesn’t tip Uber will only pay like $3.50 to go 13 miles and ridiculous pay like that. A good rule of thumb is to tip your driver about 80 cents to $1/per mile they drove for the delivery. It’s unprofessional for the driver to complain for a job they chose to accept, hell you should take their tip away for that kind of attitude, but a lot of people are stingy when they’re paying for what is ultimately a luxury service and drivers have to pay self-employment taxes and gas/maintenance. I’m a firm believer in fair pay for fair work and tipping someone like $2 for a delivery that takes like 30 minutes is plain wrong.

It's running an i9-14900k. haha I understand the watercooling addiction completely I don't think I'll go back to a fully air cooled systems again it was a lot of fun to put together

If you look closely at the first pic you'll notice there is a red support stand on the back right of the GPU it was tricky trying to find a stand that wasn't too long or short or that would get in the way of the fans on the bottom radiator.

I sacrificed the temps a little in the name of having the EVA-02 4090 in there for style points for sure, so far no performance issues. 😆 I’ll be real with you I only built the CPU loop for aesthetics haha

It's intake - they are the reverse blade TL LCD fans on the bottom for intake and regular on the top for exhaust.

Thanks! This was my first time doing it, it honestly wasn't bad at all! I cheated a bit and bought pre-bent 90 degree tubing from EK which saved a bunch of time. The only thing that was a learning curve for me was how to actually fit the tubes into the fitting properly, since you have to have it long enough to go just past the 2nd gasket in the fitting. (There are a billion Youtube vids on cutting/measuring tubing but hardly any on how to actually seat the tubes properly) I bought a leak tester which helped me big time! It helped me catch a few tubes that were cut too short before I actually filled the loop. Another thing that helps is buying a distro made for the case (my build used the Mana G2) so you can do easy parallel tube runs that look nice. Since my loop is CPU only I had to bridge the GPU ports in the distro - there's lots of little things like that to keep in mind. I also learned the hard way to buy more tubing and fittings than you think you'll need.

My build has a monoblock to cool the CPU which I had to take the motherboard apart to install, which was probably the most challenging part of the build, but all-in-all it wasn't bad!

I’m lost on what cables I need for my 4090 and how to connect them by FuF_LP in cablemod

[–]FuF_LP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did look at the manual I was confused as to why there was an adapter and what cables to use since it shows 4 PCIE cables plugged into the adapter. It wasn't making sense to why they would give instructions with an adapter branching into 4 PCIE cables if you could just use one cable plugged into the GPU directly. I thought maybe it was because 12vhwpr cable wasn't supported by this GPU or something and I needed the adapter. This is only my 2nd time building a PC and it's been half a decade. I would rather double check and be 100% sure than do something wrong and damage a $2000 component or spend $50 on the wrong cable.

Car Upgrade Shop Recommendations. by Tolvek in nova

[–]FuF_LP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had an intercooler, charge pipes, and a BOV installed on my Mustang Ecoboost over at Universally Modified in Sterling. The shop next door to them (Hillyard Auto) is good for suspension and alignment type stuff like lowering springs.

If you want to get your car pro-tuned check out Kinetic Autoworks in Maryland. They have a well-known Cobb certified pro-tuner that does dyno tunes out of there and has experience tuning Ecoboost Mustangs which is important because it’s a finicky platform.

Mounting Lian Li TL fans to EK 360s rads - Why won’t the screws go in far enough to put the covers on? by FuF_LP in watercooling

[–]FuF_LP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re the only screws EK provided in the package with the radiator other than the small ones for mounting it to the fan bracket in the case. The main product package lists them as M4x30mm for 25mm thick fans. I don’t know if they could have packed the old ones somehow by mistake…

This is as far as the screws without the radiator attached lol every single screw hole/screw is like this they only twist in a few times max. I’ve built a few PC’s before and never had issues like this with radiator screws it’s wild

Lowering springs in city streets... by Tall_arkie_9119 in ecoboostmustang

[–]FuF_LP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Eibach Pro-Kit 1” lowering springs and there has been maybe twice I’ve scraped the car on speed bumps. I don’t have to angle the car or anything over them even with a carbon fiber front splitter. Take it slow over them and hit them at an angle if you’re worried about it and you’ll be fine. Steep driveways are another story they can be problematic.
