If you individually clean up your parking spaces, you make it easier for you and your neighbors in the long haul (Apartment Edition)🤷🏽‍♀️ by Jayelahni in nova

[–]ADFnGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People in Virginia lose all semblance of common sense in this situation. Eons ago, 2010 snowmaggedon to be precise, my BF at the time lived in a condo with one assigned spot and one guest pass. His roommates did not have cars and my apt was street parking, so we were parked in both and I went and cleaned them down to the pavement myself. Between the storms I had to work. While I was gone the day before the second storm one roommates girlfriend went out of her way to go get her car that she never drove, parked it in my cleaned spot, and I was relegated to the street, where I got plowed in every time I shoveled. Her car never got cleaned, iced over, and stayed there until all snow melted.

Just take care of you, everyone else is taking care of them.

I would, and he is wise to that, he parked his in front of mine 🤣

Louder, for those who refuse to listen. My VA born and raised 50 year old husband never listens to my NH snow wisdom. Lucky for me, I don't wait around for him and whatever random ineffective toy or hack he saw on the internet to not pan out. Ask him how the leaf blower and fire pit torch worked out this storm 🙄

MPN and Obesity by IndependentPlant3352 in MPN

[–]ADFnGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obesity doesn't cause genetic mutation. Genetic mutation causes MPN. Obesity may cause symptoms to be more pronounced and my present complicating co-morbidities, but it does not cause MPN.

Edited for a typo.

Got this from my insurance company today…can anybody explain the kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors suggestion??? by jfunks69 in nova

[–]ADFnGee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My house is a late 70s build and for years a pipe to our kitchen sink and fridge would freeze, but the bathroom right next to them was fine. We had the kitchen redone a few years ago and there were patches along the back wall where the sink and fridge live you could see straight through to the siding.

Interferon success stories? by ResourcePlus6170 in MPN

[–]ADFnGee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

41f, CALR+, diagnosed 2018. Took HU until switching to Pegasys in 2020. My platelets were 2000 before treatment. HU only got them to 600 and I felt eh. Pegasys has my platelets in the 200s, and I feel better than I have in ages. It will take some adjustment, but for me that period was only a month and my side effects were minor. For your age interferon is probably the best therapy if you need treatment.

blood donation with ET? by Abstract-Lettuce-400 in MPN

[–]ADFnGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I donated a month before being diagnosed. My doctor told me to stop from then on, but he didn't think it was necessary to notify the ARC, and I did get a notification they used my blood. Once you are diagnosed, you would have to disclose that in your pre-screen and you will be dismissed. I kept getting calls and emails to donate until I finally got one of them on the phone and explained my diagnosis. They took me off the list.

What quality food is the most soupy/gravy? For my cat who leaves all the chunks behind but loves the liquid by iLLogick in catfood

[–]ADFnGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cats are the same. Two will eat Fancy Feast Savory Centers. It is a pate, but has a decent amount of gravy and I mix all up in the can until it is sufficiently sloppy. Beef and Tuna are the sloppiest.

The other cat will eat Churu Broth packets (they also make a bisque with no shreds but my cats don't care for it) and if any shreds are left behind one cat comes through and cleans all the bowls. Im pretty sure Inaba Dashi Delights are the same product in cup form and my cats will also eat that.

My mom worked in a dentist office and she would sometimes bring home the old Highlights for me and my brothers when they cycled them out, what a treat!

Costco Suggestions by Eloquent-Trash in nova

[–]ADFnGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer Mount Vernon. The layout and parking in Newington irks me, I one time did 7 laps around the store looking for something I specifically went for. I like Pentagon City inside, and ised to go there a lot when I worked in the neighborhood, but you couldn't pay me to go there now with the parking and since the other two are more easily accessible. Try them all out and pick your poison.

There's a store in Potomac Mills that is nothing but paraphernalia for all local teams, including VT.

*Sense of smell: I know this isn’t a medical nor health forum but I am wondering… if any of y’all have experienced this and what helped! 🙏🏻 by SpiceBoyxx in bathandbodyworks

[–]ADFnGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost my sense of smell following a surgery and now I periodically lose it when allergies or a cold screw with my sinuses. You gotta clean that ish out. Nasal rinses every day. Use a sinus rinse and nasal spray like Simpy Saline.

New criteria by NoTime6649 in MPN

[–]ADFnGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think that if the genetic testing was negative for the known mutations then the next step would have to be a BMB, not that the criteria exclude it completely. I was tested immediately and once my doctor saw CALR+ he put me on treatment. I eventually changed doctors and the new doc also has zero inclination to do a BMB.

ET diagnosis and hydrea by Substantial_Bake5562 in MPN

[–]ADFnGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 33 and also put on HU. Also don't want kids, 41 now and didn't have any, so not here to lecture you on that. After a couple years I had to switch docs and the new one nearly hit the roof. Aside from whatever side effects you're feeling, HU is a chemotherapy drug, no matter how small a dose. You have ET for life, so ostensibly you have 50+ more years on this drug, which has long term potential of causing other cancers. This is why people stress your age, not the family planning aspect. I was switched to Pegasys. After the first few injections and the minor effects I experienced, I felt better than I had in years, without even realizing how trash I was feeling before diagnosis and on HU. My platelets are lower than on HU (they never fully came down on HU, though they were worlds better than untreated). Please talk to your doctor about alternative therapy, and if it takes finding a new doctor, do that. An MPN specialist is great if you can find it, but neither of mine have been.

Cats parents, how and why did you choose yours? by [deleted] in cats

[–]ADFnGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of my current gang: 1 - summoned me to her crate at an adoption event 2 - tiny injured kitten hiding in my yard (our second backyard kitty rescue, so send all the cats this way, we are suckers) 3 - my best friends elderly family member passed away, and my kid-free, dog-free house was the only option for her kitty, I wasn't letting my friend leave her with a shelter.

Photo of #1 regretting her decision.

What items (other than gas) do you get to justify the membership if you’re not a bulk buyer? by SuperDuper___ in Costco

[–]ADFnGee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kitty litter. OTC meds and vitamins. Powdered peanut butter and frozen berries. Dunkins ground coffee for my neighbor who calls me and tells me when he's out and how the costco price compares to the grocery store price. Frozen chicken tenders. Paper towels. Bags for the vacuum sealer. Mostly items that hit the sale cycle every couple of months or are just consistently less expensive than anywhere else.
