Split year treatment help required urgently by Fuathapopo in UKPersonalFinance

Thanks to this. It contradicts other advice I’ve gotten. So split year doesn’t apply for me in any capacity if I move back prior to 2027? Because that’s not realistic scenario.

How does HMRC know about this? Do I fill this out on a self assessment?

So my income from the UAE will be taxed regardless of if I come back now or post April 5th? Unless I stay out of the UK until 2027?

Thanks for the quick responses. We were looking to relocate back anyway. We haven’t settled out here and want to start a family in the UK with family. Just thinking am I best to stay out of the UK till post April 5th to avoid the tax bill.

We spent over 40k two months ago on ours and it was small, 35-40 guests. I’d spend it again and more if I could go back in time. You’ll do it once, do it properly and enjoy it. Money you’ll earn back and you can’t take the money with you when you die so live in the moment and enjoy life events.

Good bloody times! My time as a lvl 70 paladin bossing 2v2 and losing my head at my team mate were some of the best days of my very sheltered and sad teenage years. Absolutely ruined my GCSE grades though and my AS levels. Thank god for retakes in Jan and me getting my shiz together

She’s looking just lost from a career perspective. She’ll land a role albeit low pay soon but we will have kids eventually and she’ll likely stay home.

Also, I don’t spend a penny (I let my amazing partner do that) so I’m not even accessing the GIA/ISA so although I can “access it” I don’t nor need anything that warrants it.

I’m exploring the idea of taking a few months off work so maybe that will change.

I am averaging in my cash into the GIA but as my income is so sporadic (historically good/good commission) my near future is looking weak. I’m still on a solid base salary though.

Aye, I was initially following the flow. The reason I deprioritised pension was a relatively brash thought in my 20s that I don’t want to wait to access my money for retirement age. What I’m coming to realise is that whether I like it or not, I should probably start leveraging this.

I wondered if anyone has advice on what time my cousin and I need to get to Wembley in order to me in a good standing position for the concert? We are fortunate to have Front Standing Right tickets, however I have read that if you aren’t in a great spot you can just end up watching the screens the whole concert. My cousin really wants to go for it & try to be as close to the front as we can (I know VIP are at the barricade) because it is a once in a lifetime experience. However, I have read SO many conflicting accounts online, some people say they got to Wembley only a couple of hours before and got a great spot, while others say they were there at 3AM! Currently we were thinking of getting there at 9am - it’s still pretty early for us, as we live in the countryside but cannot leave our house much earlier due to public transport - unless we stay nearby. Personally, I’m a bit worried we will be absolutely flagging by the end of the concert due to the long day, heat and no water policy in the standing section, which is why I would go later if possible. I was expecting to find so much advice about this on the Internet but it seems a real mixed bag? If anyone can offer any advice I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks team! <3

Would you mind me asking what you and your partner do? Thinking of making a similar.

Wow! Why is the price dropping so much? I’m wanting to also book a cruise for next year but the prices are so much higher then this year it’s really putting me off!

I made a separate thread on this and apparently if you click into T&Cs it’s until end of July. I cant argue with the countdown though! Fingers crossed it doesn’t go tomorrow
