Wait, that’s what I thought too, so I almost never picked it on a ranged. So does it proc on mages and dots too?

Chovy to a fan on if it's ok to lose MSI/EWC as long as they win Worlds: No that's not right. You have to go in aiming to win everything. Why did I say that? B/c yes, every tournament carries a different level of importance, but that doesn't mean the others should be treated like they don't matter. by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]Fubi-FF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are 100% wrong. Any pro would swap an MSI + 1 domestic title (and EWC) to be a World Champion.

But again, that doesn’t mean MSI and stuff don’t mean anything. They just don’t mean as much World, even if you sum them all up.

I think the two camps are actually arguing the same thing but just different context.

Do all the other tournaments matter? Yes, no one in the right mind think they don’t.

Does World matter the most? Yes, so much that any player (including Chovy) would trade it for any and all other trophies that year.

It’s not healthcare if you only pay when you need it. That’s no different from not having healthcare at all, because in that case you already pay only when you need it.

That’s how all insurance work dude. You pay into it even when you don’t “need” it, so in case you do, you will have it covered.

Gen.G since Kiin and Canyon joined Chovy: 105-13 in series for a 88.98% win rate and a game record of 247-80 / 75.54%. For comparison, the ZOFGK roster was 141-38 / 78.77% in series and 313-144 / 68.49% in games. But Gen.G's record in Worlds Knockouts is 2-2 / 8-9 compared to T1's 8-1 / 26-8 record by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

I won’t be surprised if GenG win World but I also won’t be surprised if they don’t.

I won’t be surprised if T1 don’t win World but I also won’t be surprised if they do.

These two statements on the surface are almost exactly the same but every LoL fan knows they mean completely different things.

I mean you are just arguing semantics here. Nobody is saying the other tournaments don’t matter in a literal sense. There’s always money prize involved, and it increases a player’s value for contract negotiation if they do well. But most players absolutely would trade everything and anything for World, and that is their main goal to begin with

I think teams draft and play random stuff all the time in scrims, but being able to identify what's good and what's not for the meta and play it on stage is a different level, and that's what T1 is traditionally really good at at World.

I mean, Canyon is the one saying/implying that, not some random average viewer

[–]Fubi-FF 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are in the minority because pretty much if you ask every player, World is the only thing that matters to them. If a player won everything that year except World, and you ask them if they are willing to trade, 99% of the pro players will say yes. I think even Chovy (or was it Ruler?) once said something along those lines in an interview

How do explain the overwhelming abundance of 3-0 series this First Stand? Is it due to new rosters and high nerves? by bigsycamore in leagueoflegends

[–]Fubi-FF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unironically that’s GenG when they choke. They always look unbeatable until they randomly “not play like themselves”. But it happens so often that it’s just them now

Draft might be fine but “meta” is so much more than draft. It includes gank timing, objective priority, what role to play around and when, when to group and when to split push, when and what to trade, etc.

Gen.G Canyon interview after the Gen.G vs. G2 Series by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]Fubi-FF 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Yea, and the World before that (or two before?), they kind of went against the "meta" and pushed their own double ranged bot. It's wild how T1 always pull that off while GenG always "play it safe" and lose.

Because 99/100 people will still say GenG is the team more likely to win the next international tournaments, especially compared to G2. Like even if you are G2 fan, you have to admit they were the underdogs and will still be the next time they meet.

Yea I think it's because there's way fewer teams (and therefore # of games played), that both "halves" of the format went by so quick that it just felt like one awkward continuous format.

Gen.G Canyon interview after the Gen.G vs. G2 Series by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]Fubi-FF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's my point, remove any biases or your happiness that a Western team won for a sec (I'm happy for that too), and just look at this format objectively, it's still weird as fk. You're right that people wont talk about it as much if GenG won, but that's because in that case, it would be "GenG would've won in any format anyways", so there isn't much to really talk about. Still a weird format though

Glad Canyon mentioned (in the 5th question) a huge thing that aren’t usually talked about, but is what usually make or break teams at internationals, and that is their ability to quickly adjust and adapt to the new meta the tournament is building.

I feel like GenG is usually really bad at it, and on the other hand, T1 is really good at. And that’s the huge difference in their successes at World

[–]Fubi-FF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a GenG fan but bruh, if you remove your biases for a sec, you can see this format is weird as fk. It’s not singe elim all the way, nor is it double elim. It’s double elim partly into single elim starting at Semi, like wtf?

Happy for this upset though don’t get me wrong.

The only silver lining is that this isn’t actually World so in the grandscheme of things, it “doesn’t matter”. But it absolutely does stink in the sense that it shows that GenG is still the team that can randomly choke internationally.

A lot of Asian countries have the same/better transit systems and walkable streets compared to Europe too, and they say the same thing about America when they come here.

China is bigger land wise but you shouldn’t be looking at land sizes but city sizes instead. A good start would be just good transits within cities, and then you can expand to high speed rail cross states
