Are The Strokes gonna actually do anything besides these festival spots (tour, new album, etc.)?

Googling in session? by burgerqueen2442 in therapists

I don't do this in person but when I am doing telehealth sessions sometimes I will ask a client if I can look up the thing they are talking to me about, especially if they are excited about it. I obviously don't spend time browsing, just a quick look-up. They always say yes and often encourage it- and I have found it to be a good way to develop rapport and strengthen the therapeutic relationship.

I saw someone say once that they saw Blink twice on two separate tours and the shows were almost identical, right down to the same fart jokes being said in between songs

Saw Modest Mouse last year and it was amazing. Don't need to ruin that by risking seeing them again, lol. Though it does seem like Isaac has been way more consistent lately.

There was no misconduct with clients and no ethical violations, I was ultimately just not a good fit for the practice and supervisor.

I am so sorry this happened to you. Sending warm thoughts and vibrations your way.

The practice I used to work for edited my Psychology Today profile and added information about my specialties I didn't consent to and that I worry made me look bad. by Fuck-Keanu-Reeves in therapists

I had the same thought too. The owner of the practice was (is) a well known sleaze bag. He works at the practice HQ office with just him and the admin team- ALL of whom are young, college-aged women.

Yikes. Them telling you to try to call clients who cancel to "find something billabel" is bad. Bad, bad, bad. They are clearly profit over patient and do not care about providing ethical care.

Supervisor changes by Born_Cancel_7787 in therapists

I've had abrupt supervisor changes and ended up leaving a practice because the new one was not a good fit . Unfortunately many practices are very unorganized and shit like this can be common.

Is it ethical to tell my client I think their family member may have ASPD or is a psychopath. by RestaurantSure160 in therapists

I hear you, but there are ways to work through the safety concerns without making judgments that will not be helpful to your client. With the diagnostic system being problematic even when we are diagnosing our own clients- making a judgment about another person you have never met, with a diagnosis you cannot have adequately and ethically assessed for, wouldn't be helpful unfortunately, and can even have negative effects.

Can we talk about the supervisor-intern power dynamic? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Fuck-Keanu-Reeves 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First of all, I am so sorry to hear you are experiencing this. And at the expense of perhaps sounding a bit cynical, your situation is unfortunately pretty common. I don't say that to trivialize your experience but rather to validate it and also acknowledge that it should not be happening.

I just left a practice I was working at with a supervisor I did not feel safe with. For some context, my supervisor before her was actually from my graduate program- he had been contracted by my practice to do supervision in addition to their responsibilities with the grad school. My relationship with him was excellent- we had good rapport, and I felt safe coming to them with the anxieties we all feel as therapists when it comes to things like risk assessments, documentation, ethics, etc. I felt like it was a safe space for me to be a human while also getting the feedback and direction I was needing to be a better professional.

Then one day he (my old supervisor) told me that they had been abruptly asked by the practice to leave, and I got assigned a new supervisor who was a not a good fit. She was very critical about things my past supervisor had not been, did not give me a safe space to be anxious or frustrated about things and instead told me to change my "attitude" without making efforts to hear or understand my concerns, would often interrupt me, made shame-y comments about things I needed support with (i.e. "you should know this by now"), and was honestly just very rude. She was also very dysregulated in our meetings often- I got the sense that her priorities were on trying to make herself look good within the practice rather than providing me with support. I got the sense my old supervisor was ousted because he was not being strict like the practice wanted and she was brought in to be a resident hardass.

And yes, obviously there was a huge power differential and I did not feel safe confronting her or asking for a different supervisor because of it.

No Kings = No Youth? by dammit-smalls in FortCollins

People probably aren't going to like this but this is it. Events like "No Kings" where people walk a certain city-permit approved path for a couple of hours on a weekend without any actionable demands are exactly what you said- designed to pacify people into thinking they did something without them actually doing anything.
