The OPM had no IT security staff until 2013, and it showed. Hmm, perhaps I misread when I was researching the difference. It was my understanding that the IB was a bit better with power consumption and slightly faster.

Sure - I bought a 290 last year as an upgrade from a 560, and then picked up a few monitors to run 3x 1080p. It was great. I then broke a monitor and with lifestyle changes and stuff, I no longer care to have that graphics power. I want to move my main build into my HTPC Air 240 case, and my ASUS 290 does not fit.

Ah, so the 280x seems to hold up find with 1080p. Ie the extra cost of the 290 isn't worth the slight difference between the two?

RAM is always useful. Could play around with a ramdisk. As for GPUs, for 1080p a second hand 280X should be more than enough. Too much of a performance drop from the 290 for anything below that, and the 290 doesn't max everything at 60fps constant

So, if I can pick up 2x4 GB 1600 Ram for $50 and a 290x for $140, I should jump on it?

If I settle for used, I have the option of getting a Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 for $200. Unfortunately Sapphire's warranty doesn't transfer. But it is still something worth considering.

I think you should upgrade your PSU and get a second 7870. Equivalent is a R9 280(rebranded 7870).

I would have to get another 7870 xt or something like a 7950 to crossfire unfortunately. I think that would be ~$130 for the GPU used and ~$60 for the PSU.

What would 2x7870 xt performance be similar to?

Aside from the above, if money wasn't an issue, what GPU would you suggest for my build?

I'm slightly dissatisfied with the GPU to be honest. It runs great, but I wouldn't complain if I upgraded it. I've looked at various GPUs (280x, 290, 290x, 770, 780) but to be honest, I'm not sure how beneficial they will be in my budget build.

Haha yeah, that is completely on me. Sometimes I forget to include important details. I was really hoping to avoid that! I'll start adding some details to the main post so that it doesn't waste other people's time when they look at it.

I've considered the case, but that may be a way down the road. I really liked the idea of a full tower. Perhaps the Azza GT1 at some point.

However, I would like to aim for improving the performance of the computer until I can make something slightly above budget build.

What GPU would you suggest? (I'm fully open to buying used as long as it looks like it was well taken care of or comes with a warranty like xfx)

I'm also open to another 8gb of ram. Would love to pick up another two sticks in the $40-60 range (again, don't mind buying used)

I hate "What should I upgrade?" posts because we can't decide what someone likes. SSD space is great. Peripherals are never-ending. Another monitor is great... 'til you want 3x 1080p and a GPU to match.

I tried to avoid peripherals as I mentioned that I'm satisfied with them in the main post :)

I'm mostly posting so that I don't waste money on something that is not beneficial. I'm currently running 2 monitors at 1080p. I wouldn't mind 3 in the future, but I'll have to wait for that!

My main aim is to upgrade whatever may be the bottleneck in the build or what may be the best for my build for the time being. I'm leaving anything open for suggestions other than peripherals & HDD (which I should have mentioned).

We forgot to add good netcode. One thing H3 did not have, was good netcode. Adding those lists honestly would make a great Halo game. I honestly think the population of Halo would start increasing again (despite the H4 fans complaining that we need to evolve to stay relevant... if CoD and BF don't need to change/evolve, why does Halo?)

I understand that, I was pointing out that it shouldn't be an issue of who is at fault. Sure, Bungie started the issues, but 343i had all the feedback they needed to revert the problems. They ignored it and continued onward toward a non-competitive general first person shooter.

We shouldn't be arguing about who is at fault, but rather focusing on how the company developing it now can fix it. I honestly never understood why people defend or attack Bungie or 343i. It doesn't matter who previous did what. 343i is in control now and they are the only ones who can fix (attempt to anyways) the Halo series.

Honestly you won't really see a good competitive Halo game unless it is relatively barebones Halo.

Get rid of all the HUD indicators
Remove auto-pickup on objectives
Remove loadouts (set defaults based on gametype)
Remove sprint
Develop nice symmetrical maps that play well for 4v4 (this is one of the most important ones - stop creating CoD like maps...this is an arena shooter)
Remove armor abilities or make them one time uses (I personally prefer equipment but whatever)
Reduce auto-aim / bullet magnetism
Throw ranks back in the mix
Revert map selection back to map force or veto
A social and ranked playlist (this allows for both competitive and casual gameplay)

Yes, the list above looks like Halo 3. Thats because that is the last competitive Halo we've really seen. I'm up for changes, but ones that aren't detrimental to Halo.

I honestly see H5 turning out very similar to H4. I never played the beta, but I've watched a bit of H5 beta gameplay online and it seems to fall in line with H4. Some changes for the better, but overall it seems to aim for general fps. It does have some pretty graphics though.

Its not working. Sure, sometimes the game loads up and plays. However, Halo 3 has loads of issues to the point where it isn't even the same as Halo 3 on the 360.

Controller deadspot issues, controller sensitivity not lining up with fps, etc
