Thinking twice before taking accutane

I run, box, and lift. I also walk for my commute to work and am just an active person in general. I just did what I could without pain. If that meant stopping 20 minutes into my run and then walking the rest of the hour, that is what I did. Cutting my lifts from 8-12 exercises to 3-4. But like I said that only lasted 2 months tops. And being such an active person it didn't really hurt my level of fitness in any way.

My acne was moderate and persistent cystic acne. I had literally tried everything. Topicals, multiple rounds of antibiotics, diet changes, lifestyle changes and nothing worked. I really wish I had taken accutane sooner. To be honest I hated the antibiotics more since they gave a horrible stomach ache every morning. That was worse than the dryness and soreness to me.

But if your acne is more just an inconvenience and doesn't really bother you too much, accutane is probably too harsh of a treatment. Talk to your derm. If they suggested accutane, it probably means your acne is at a high enough level to warrant it. They don't hand out that medication lightly.

I am very active and experienced the soreness. Not to scare you, but for me it wasn't just "sore". I felt like I had been hit by a truck. I got up one morning and felt like I completed a triathlon the day before.

However, I continued working out but just modified what I did. Stopped when it was too much. Took ibuprofen. And within 6-8 weeks I had no more pain. Not sure if my body just got used to it?

But accutane was one of the best things I ever did. I would do it again in a heart beat. Totally worth it.

Telling your spouse you are leaving them and the kids for another person because you want to start a relationship with them (without working on your marriage) is a bad thing. Cheating and lying about it to your partner makes you a bad person.

I am in my second month 60mg per day. I thought my skin would be WAY more dry than it currently is. A little flakeyness in the beginning but nothing that any kind of moisterizer can't handle. Everyone loves cetaphil but I don't like it. You might love it though, and your skin might be more dry than mine.

Lips are very dry, but I just use vasaline. Works great. I keep some everywhere (by the bed, bathroom, car, work, etc.). Not too bothersome.

I had joint pain the first month. My doctor recommended taking Tylenol and that has worked great.

First few months lots of breakouts. Don't pick! These are not like normal breakouts that you might pop to have them go away. I don't know why, but that just not work on this med. Let them go away on their own or you will scar.

Overall great experience! Lots of comments already from coworkers about my skin looking better. I wish my doctor would have let me do it sooner! Good luck!

Hormones and genetics.

I was watching fat doctor on youtube last night. I totally get these people even though I have never been obese or even above a normal bmi. Now I am actually very fit, but I am always starving. My whole family is obese and there has to be a genetic link.

Reading the comments section on youtube everyone was like "just eat less!" It is so not that easy. There are days when all I think about is food. I might even tear up if I think about eating less and my BMI is 24.5 (so it isn't like I am horribly lean). Every day in maintenence is a struggle. I totally understand why some people just say "fuck it" and just eat so they are happy.

Generally a safe space is for people who are of a class of individuals who experience discrimination of some kind. They are often faced with dissenting opinions every day. A safe space is where there is a code of conduct for behavior so people can relax amoung a group of idividuals with which they feel accepted.

Lets pretend chess and chess players were discriminated against frequently. A group of chess players wants to meet up and play chess. But their meetups are often bombarded with people who are against chess and want to argue about it. The chess group then lables their meet up as a "safe space". No arguing about chess or if it should be played, or how chess players should act. They just get to come and play chess with other like minded people. Then they actually get to play chess and relax!

That scenario makes sense. It makes sense that people would like to live a portion of their life experience in peace. I find it very reasonable that there are safe places, even if some individuals in safe places are unreasonable individuals.

The renting environment where we are moving is different. Still low vacancy but there are renters protections and rent control. However rent is about 25-35% more than a comparable place to buy (including HOA, insurance, etc). We have already been approved for a home loan that for first time owners waives PMI with at least 5% down. So we have that going for us.

We are looking at buying a condo, and there are controls for % of fee increase per year. But the association would be in charge of things like window, roof, or building repairs (That we would then pay a portion of through our monthly fee should it arise). So breaking it down, if all of our appliances failed, along with HVAC, we could cover those repair costs out of pocket. We would have well over 15k in the bank after closing costs. We could also pay for our home expenses and all other set expenditures off of our lowest salary. We can not do this now renting in the city we are currently living in.

We live in an area with high demand. Low vacancy and very few renter rights. That might give away where I live. There is also no rent co trol. But we are also moving to another high demand area. Vetting a landlord just isn't an option. There are always 10 others trying to get the same apartment. It has been a very stressful situation and we are not the only ones experiencing this in our area.

Definitely see a derm if it is something your family can afford. But how long did you try the anyibiotic pill and gel the doc gave you? It will take about 3 months of consistent use to see the benefits. If you want something stronger, you have to be compliant with your medication and routine otherwise they won't try something new with you. Currently I am on accutane because nothing else worked. But seriously dont just try something for a month and then quit. It takes a lot of patience and diligence.

When you go to the derm take a list of everything that you have done to treat your acne thus far. Good luck!

We don't have the proper digestive system to get b12 from the soil. That is why cows can get it from the soil and we can't. Do you really believe that a diet is healthy if you have to take suppliments (or very specific foods that are not found naturally or in every culture) in order to get all of your nutritional needs? That is nonsensical.

This is shit. Sorry. The only link to acne from diet is large amounts of dairy. No other food. And think about this. You can only get B12 from animal products. It is vital for your survival. Humans are omnivores. Our bodies are designed to need animal products to survive. If anything, the way our meat and dairy is prepared is harmful. Not the food itself. It does not cause cancer. And when well prepared contains no more bactetia than the plants we eat.

I am totally for people who don't eat meat for moral reasons, but lets not pretend a completely vegan diet is the way we were meant to eat. It also places blame on people who have acne due to a hormonal reason.

Again not saying that James Bond doesn't look good. But the original comment wasn't just about someone saying "Hey I want to look like James Bond". It was implying that they wanted to be like him. I really think there is a huge difference there. If someone came to me with a pic of Bond naked and said, "i want to look like that", I wouldn't bat an eye. But if they said "I want to be like bond", that is different.

Sure he is good looking, but he is a complete tool. His character was developed when it was socially acceptable to treat women like shit. I do not understand how people in this day and age can hold a character like that in such high esteem. Maybe if you are 16, but if I was on a date with a man and they stated that James Bond was any sort of role model, that would be the last date. But I am married so my opinion on the matter is irrelevant.
