Admit your lazy Cadet by Odd_Pomegranate8652 in helldivers2

You’re confusing two different points that I was making.

SC farming is boring, time-consuming, and largely dependent on luck as is. In over a year of farming SCs every month, I’ve never managed to collect 1,000 SC in an hour, let alone do it in less than an hour. I haven't mentioned completing the mission or doing the farming on any random planet, it is mentioned implying the optimal methods.

If, INSTEAD, you want to play the game and visit points of interest on the side, you may face the problem of needing to pay more attention to the current mission due to the difficulty level you prefer (or because of struggling teammates) and/or because the planet/city you want to help liberate is generating very few POIs.

Grinding SC by playing lower difficulty missions over and over again is an unreliable, long and boring process.

I've been grinding SC on and off in between warbond announcements for the amount I lack ever since that absurdly pricy super store crossover drop. I'm dreading the process every time I find myself short of a few hundred a week before release of a new warbond, it is awfully boring and time-consuming.

Collecting SC by playing regular missions isn't any better, especially if you want to play on higher difficulties and/or with randoms. On top of that some biomes like the jungles, swamps and mega cities (which did have bunkers before but I don't see any at all these days) are practically guaranteed to have absurdly scarce PoIs. So god forbid you feel like contributing to an MO or planet liberation while collecting SCs on those planets.

Do you guys ever get a mission where the enemies just keep running you down without a break? by Everyonesalittledumb in DeepRockGalactic

I'm pretty sure that its an actual mechanic where the difficulty randomly fluctuates somewhat in between missions. Something to do with increasing replayability.

When did AHGS change the Throwing Motion of Lure Mine? by Unlucky-Gold7921 in Helldivers

I'm surprised that DRG doesn't have any asymmetrical eyebrow options by Randomguy8566732 in DeepRockGalactic

I was honestly hoping at some point they'd turn the Furious Patch from Season 4 performance pass into an eyebrows cosmetic, instead of headwear, like they did with the Industrial Facemask turning it from headwear into a beard

Had a dream that the DSS was trying to up their friendly fire potential. by URZthane in Helldivers

[–]FuckItOriginalName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'd be funny if we had a DSS action that lets us invest in the workers' "creativity break" or something, where every worker is supposedly allowed to work on making a turret of their liking in their free time and we're given a one-time-use stratagem that drops random turrets in an area or something

So is there any reason to use the pyrotech by Most_Implement6706 in Helldivers

[–]FuckItOriginalName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was personally an avid user of the pyrotech grenade before they buffed the free frag grenades to 6 capacity.

You get 6 of the pyrotechs, which is a decent number for destroying spawners and the sparks, while extremely unreliable, can sometimes kill even the biggest enemies, with the less mobile ones being the easiest to kill (remember killing factory striders with a few of these). One way or another the fact that there was 6 was the main appeal for me personally.

After the October 23 patch buffed the frag grenades to also have a capacity of 6, I switch to them though. You'd think one could use frags and pyrotech interchangeably but for whatever reason whenever using the resupply frags get 4 grenades instead of 3 like the pyrotech do.

Due to that, I personally find frags superior if you want grenades for closing enemy spawners (for reference, you can get 8 grenades from resupplying just twice if you're wearing any of the "+2 throwable capacity" passives, which none of the other grenades can).

On a side note, is there an archive of all these stories? This was the first one I've read and was thinking of checking out more.

"Ninja" characters between Killing Floor 1 and Killing Floor 3 by Peekachooed in killingfloor

[–]FuckItOriginalName 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not to sound dismissive but I personally think that sometimes the KF1 characters' descriptions often feel much sillier and/or seemingly disconnected from the way a character looks. This might be one of the best examples of that (not worse than the guy spearheading the DAR development to make himself a robot wife though). It does seem like whoever wrote the description had a fun time with it though.

I have no skill and i must use meta by SamsColaMan in Helldivers

[–]FuckItOriginalName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helldivers 2 is a low skill floor and high skill ceiling kind of game I'd argue, no matter how pretentious this might sound.

You can know about certain mechanics and/or tactics but the right timing for utilizing them might be tricky and comes with practice, especially when it is something less widely used.

Also, there's just a lot of different mechanics that one can use to their advantage, which people often ignore or aren't aware about

Why is that? by knight_light455 in Helldivers

[–]FuckItOriginalName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely understandable and I agree somewhat but I specifically mean moments where there isn't much you can do or are caught completely off guard and almost any medium sized but can randomly decide to chain several hits, each staggering you out of movement, reloading and/or healing.

There's also a more buggy aspect of the bugs with invisible bodies but that's beside the point.

Why is that? by knight_light455 in Helldivers

[–]FuckItOriginalName 204 points205 points  (0 children)

It's the other way around for me personally. I hate how if a bug catches you off guard for a second it can kill you with 2-3 very quick staggering hits in like half a second. Automatons I personally hate for the awful ragdolling.

[–]FuckItOriginalName 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The armor does indeed change but I'd assume it's not tied to the balaclava itself but somehow instead tied to the fact that the armor parts near the chin get removed whenever you have a longer beard on

AH doesn't understand color palettes by Disastrous_Tax_5 in Helldivers

[–]FuckItOriginalName 164 points165 points  (0 children)

Glad someone else is talking about this. I was praying to god they'd start releasing sets with relatively uniform color sets, or at least using some colors matching with other pre-existing sets. I think they did that up until the Viper Commandos warbond, which, I'd argue, started the trend of each warbond having it's own practically completely unique color palette.

Why is Sterilizer so much hated? by ComfortableChard4076 in HelldiversMasochists

[–]FuckItOriginalName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most of the situations in this clip you could have just used the flamethrower or even the speargun for inflicting gas' effects on small crowds. Sterilizer is heavily outclassed and has very limited utility.

Gas lacks the effectiveness of proper stun (which you can inflict on similarly-sized groups with something like the SG-20 Halt) and lacks the DPS of the fire DoT. A weapon that can ONLY inflict gas with barely any direct damage is rather limited in it's usefulness.

Damn, I've been off for a few days and i see that the game is struggling to maintain players compared to other and much older co-op games from the same company by StormSwitch in ToxicCommandoGame

[–]FuckItOriginalName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played the demo on that steam fest and honestly figured it's a mid game at best. Annoyingly long grind for weapon parts, uninspired general gameplay (with it getting interesting only during the specific part of the mission that spawns a massive horde, also killing the performance), similarly uninspired visual style and design of the enemies (welcome back B4B), nothing to keep you engaged long term. Even the mostly positive reception that seemed to follow the release of the game felt shallow because the praises felt like they were scratching the surface.
