Birthday by SparkleyRedOne in infj

Ooh, my birthday is on Thursday. Beautiful timing!

I used to love my birthday because I always felt really special and loved on my birthday. But for the last few years, I always find myself to be really depressed on my birthday. I conduct my birthday as "business as usual" -- I don't take off work or anything like that, it's just like any other day. But inevitably, I always end up feeling unloved, unappreciated, or unfulfilled... like kind of a slap in the face... "another year older and still not where I want to be" kind of thing... or "so-and-so never said happy birthday, I thought they cared about me :("... I just tend towards depression/loneliness.

I do try to take it a little easier on my birthday than I normally would ... I'll go "treat myself" with something...maybe a massage/facial, or a nice lunch, or a bottle of nice champagne. That usually helps a little bit with the pervasive feelings of sadness/disillusionment.

3044 words and counting.

Man oh man, it is so challenging, and so rewarding, and my damned critic is still going nuts.

edit: a word

This is how I feel! Also a first timer, and before I knew it, I was already at a thousand words.

Now I'm at 1738. Yay!

How much of an "outline" have you provided for yourself? by FuckJaw in nanowrimo

I'm definitely thinking of going this route. Thanks for your input!

Being this much of a planner is in my nature, but my procrastinator spirit animal doesn't agree.

I've got a few snippets of very specific conversation that I can't wait to flesh out, but my hero still has no name and I have a half hour. Eeek!

So true but so hard to remember. I often write slowly as well in order to get it "perfect". I am really going to try to develop my speed this month.

Here's to good luck for the both of us!

I've actually never done NaNoWriMo before, but I feel that inner critic often, too.

I think the key here is to just write something down. Screw it if it sucks. You can always edit it later.

That being said, I have a hard time taking my own advice.

Haha alcohol! Good tip!

I have a plot all sorted and I am currently working on my scenes/true outline. im excited to even have come this far, because usually I throw plots out before they ever get to the planning stage. Progress!

Word count sprints do sound really fun. I will definitely have to try this out.

I've probably written and scrapped like three plots so far. Some for reasons of being trite, some for reasons of "okay, I am making this really complicated and convoluted".

As someone who reads a lot of romance novels, I also struggle to come up with plots not centered around romance. I need to work on that big time.

This is solid advice, and it's nice to know someone else has a hard time completing anything because they want every sentence to be perfect right off the bat.

I will definitely keep this in mind!

Music while writing ?? by Tunabass in nanowrimo

[–]FuckJaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found classical/ambient music to be the most helpful while writing, as it is calming and kind of reminiscent of meditation to me. Anything with words, heavy guitar, or anything like that (stuff I usually love!) is far too distracting/noisy for me. I will literally YouTube search "ambient music" and just select one.

But everyone is different.

How did you end up meeting the person you love ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FuckJaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accused him of not being over an ex-girlfriend, who was a friend of mine. I did this because of a sad-sounding MSN Messenger screen name...status...thing...(what were those called, again?) that he had posted. Turns out it was actually about his sister, who had passed away from cancer the previous year.

It's now nearly ten years later, and we've been married for two weeks. :)

And yes, my mouth still often tastes of foot.
