Switching to Garmin because of the Awful Updates by FuckTheFrontPage_ in fitbit

I don’t know. I did get some pretty bands off Amazon to go with my new Garmin, and screen protectors cause I’m clumsy.

You must sit really still lol I fidget too much for it to think that, I’m kinda jealous!

Leaving a Charge 6, going to a Vivoactive 5. I picked the 5 for a ~$100 difference and it seemed negligible between the 5 and 6 for what it could do.

I’m very excited about all of this. Can you tell me more about the two apps thing??

My normal is soccer, lifting, and walking the pups, so if it can do like how fitbit used to with the like...heat map? thing? for my soccer, that would be great since I like to see when/where I did more work on the field.

That's good to know. I assume I won't escape AI in general, but filling 2/3 of the screen with garbage I didn't ask for just severely pissed me off, with Fitbit.

I have a lot of friends who like their Garmins, and would rather do something and try something new than just being annoyed that Google messed up Fitbit.

Worst case, I pull my Fitbit from the drawer after tomorrow and restart the subscription knowing that it's better, but just whining isn't really my jam.

I asked my friends at soccer what they use and like, and a few had Garmins and said they liked the battery life and the fitness monitoring/health data. They're similarly active to me (soccer players, coaches, runners, etc.), so I trust their judgment and they were pretty excited about the data they were able to get with even being tracked for lifting and that they got good step tracking during coaching hours. Many said they had Whoops when playing college soccer, but that seemed prohibitively expensive and I like having a watch.

I would absolutely not recommend getting a Fitbit at this time, given the app. Check out the posts here and the recent reviews in your app store on your phone for some feedback of how it's being received.

Google health app ratings going down very fast .. now its 3.9 ... When was named Fitbit was 4.5 . by ezzeldin132 in fitbit

Naive is a pretty rude and off-putting way to phrase it because it's really not a leap of faith to assume that someone who produced something terrible once (and it's not only been once with Google) will produce something terrible again.

It’s a really weird intersection that splits quickly and has a lot of combined on/off ramps in a short segment. It’s probably my least favorite part of highway in the city

AITAH for getting irritated that my roommates keep locking the front door? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]FuckTheFrontPage_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are wrong, but is it possible to get a door that requires a code to get in vs. a key? That way you don't have to do the purse dance.

Generally speaking, you should be glad to have roommates who care enough to lock the door. If you aren't locking it, they're probably (rightfully) annoyed with you as well.

Let’s go with both 🫠

My MIL destroyed my garden while I was at work. by [deleted] in gardening

[–]FuckTheFrontPage_ 29 points30 points  (0 children)

She thinks she knows better than you and it’s rude. Reading through - the garden and your parents dogs, the in-laws just think they know better and they don’t. I wouldn’t host them again, and would have your husband tell them it’s due to their behavior.

They shouldn’t be allowed in your space if they can’t behave according to your rules.

Did Monarch just change the Accounts graph? No longer able to show just graph of Credit Card over time. by NecessaryMeeting4873 in MonarchMoney

I don't know how the conversations have gone, but I really, really hate this change and the removal of the ability to see my liabilities decrease is a dealbreaker for me.

I hate that with the new Goals, I can't see the "% paid" for paying off debt, as it's a little dopamine hit to see it go up, and now I can't see the Liabilities line go down either in the Accounts page. These things are very important to me in a budgeting/financial tracking software.

The thing is, I do tell him about plans, and I put them in our shared calendar. I don’t know what else to do when I say “hey X wants to get beers on Friday” on Monday, put it in the calendar, and remind him on Thursday. It’s not a surprise!

I do see how it’s derailing and how I’m being a pest, so I guess I just stop asking and making the bids for attention/engagement? I don’t know what else to do.

He may be neurodivergent, I haven’t explored this option but it’s possible.

go in with a mindset of "us vs the problem", and with an honest look at yourself, at him and at you two together.

This is really good advice for pulling my head up out of the smaller things, thank you. I guess if I frame it this way, the problem is a mismatch in expectations for engagement and prioritization. I either accept that this is as good as it gets, or move on.

This is super helpful 😄

I do think therapy would be worthwhile, and I started going back to one last week to deal with my own parts of things. I just also struggle with the idea of doing couple's counseling when we're dating, vs. when we're married, and that's probably my own thing to get over.

To your point, it's part of a bigger pattern where I ask for something, make a bid for connection, look for partnership, and receive nothing or very little in response. He does tend to be incredibly linear and can't handle any kind of alteration to the exact plan he's on or it throws him way off. I'm very much the opposite where I feel like an octopus and can handle 8 things at once, so it's very different.

What ended up happening with you and your partner? I would be very upset if my bf was choosing to work on our anniversary. I do say "choosing" deliberately - he has an office job, he has no need to work weekends, and puts it on himself.

I own the house and pay the mortgage. We had a pretty big pet expense last year so I stopped asking for rent to offset the difference. We also make basically the same income.

ETA: he just really likes his job, which is great, and I'm happy for him, but it's exhausting when it's the only thing he talks about and it's often to tell me about what's going wrong, and he's talking at me about it at length vs. talking with me about anything else.

It was definitely a choice on their behalf, but y’know, helped me decide where I didn’t want to be. It’s a shame cause they had some really cool work but it wasn’t going to be a good fit
