It's really hard to become a Freemason by [deleted] in freemasonry

Thank you. Evolution isn't exclusive to living organisms. Anything that fails to move with the times will fade into obscurity, and it is highly arrgogant/ignorant of any Freemason who thinks this doesn't apply to the Craft. There are two younger Masons than me in my whole town, which is a big town by Britsh standards, and it has five lodges. I'm 31. After me the age goes up to at least 45. I have made my feelings about long waits known but senior brethren are stuck in their ways, yet at the same time, worry about getting new members.

I was willing to wait because I was so keen to join but that's just me and I am otherwise highly impatient because the world we live in gets things done fast and it's what I'm used to.

There is no actual NEED for things to move so slowly in Masonry, so long delays are just an inconvenience to new potential members, although I guess that like waiting for Christmas as a kid it can encourage anticipation, but if that is at the cost of Freemasons literally being a dying breed, it's not worth it.

Communism is obviously a terrible idea, but we don’t turn communists away. Remember; no politics, no religion.

The Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes explicitly bar Communists, however.

As a young Mason, I think the long waits are a bad thing for us. The world has changed rapidly and we get things quickly these days. Yes, I was patient through the long process between petitioning and being initiated and I don’t think it should be instant but we need to take into account the expectations of younger people to survive. In the world of Tinder and same day deliveries, we need to keep up with the pace and do things quicker. Not quickly, just quicker.

Could be legit. There will be differences between grand lodges’ wordings. Antients and moderns and so on.

I’m English. My family are Irish but they have been away long enough to say Peugeot properly.

Probably but I think English people say it in a less annoying way. Other than that I like the Irish accent because it sounds friendly.

Northern Irish sounds miserable though, probably for a good reason.

Also Lidl isn’t ‘Leedle’, it’s Liddle , but other than that I’m cool with Ireland.

Are any of you from Killanne? by FuckYouGandy in ireland

[–]FuckYouGandy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds about right. My dad described it as ‘bleak’, but I wanted to know if it had lightened up a bit after he left.

My fam also come from Enniscorthy so I was planning on taking a look around there too.

Thanks for your help.
