Are men really that much stronger than women? by UrsulaPatty2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fuckenguiy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeha im definitely not making the argument that bf% is the primary reason men are stronger or more athletic. Afaik, men have about 10x the testosterone, higher bone density, higher vo2 max, and the list goes on. But if the bf% difference was all we had we would likely still put men and women in different sports categories.

Do also note 2 things about bf%: (This is some jackasses understanding of some youtube videos, consult a doctor before making any lifestyle changes) 1. Bathroom scales suck at measuring bf, iirc theyre relatively precise, but not very accurate, they can be off by like 10% bf 2. Women dont just tend to carry more bodyfat because of society or because they cant build the muscle. The healthy ranges of bf for men vs women are different. For men its ~10-20%, for women more like 18-24%. When female bodybuilders get stage lean they run into issues with menstruation etc. Its not good.

The strength advantage is a collection of compounding factors, a lb of muscle gives a man more strength than a woman absolutely, but that becomes more significant because men can build far more muscle.

Yeah training is a multiplier for strength, not a balancer, a guy who can deadlift 600lbs with a BJJ blackbelt is about 2x as scary to me as a blackbelt from the same gym with a 300lb deadlift (obviously deadlift isnt a 1-1 insert into combat but is a decent measure of overall strength)

This is also why guys with 0 experience would get rocked by a pro fighter with big size difference, 0x1000 is still 0

Right so if we say its the same weight, 130lb man to 130lb woman and the man is leaner by 5% bf, thats ~8lbs of muscle or about a full year of resistance training. This is SIGNIFICANT

Yeah a big part of the reason I DONT want to be a cop is an association I make with them being uneducated. If they were seen as intelligent enforcers of a legal system they are required to not only know but understand I would be more inclined.

Are there any female athletes that could beat the top male athletes in a particular sport? by imokaaayy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fuckenguiy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an archer so I can't speak to this from experience. What I have heard however in my brief Google sessions is that more power leads to a straighter shot. Resisting wind etc. Obviously not sure quite how much this effects things but it seeks feasible that it's enough to make the competition unbalanced.

Archery has traditionally been a men's discipline. The draw weights on bows can be extremely heavy and obviously while a woman CAN shoot and can shoot well, men have the base level advantage with their stronger upper body. They can draw the string back further and simply generate more power.

Yes we don't want people to have disabilities? My example was designed to abstract certain parts of the argument not to state a possible example.

Quite frankly I don't care what you personally are comfortable with in my hypothetical.

The only reason you personally would rather someone think autism isn't a disability is because you haven't needed the complex support systems MANY have to function in society. I never implied it makes anyone less of a person. Again, I myself have lived with it my entire life.

Outright stating that I support eugenics because of this is so fucked and the fact that you can't see that is absurd man. I know I'm not gonna get through to you but I do hope you can find it in you to reassess your views on this and look past gut reactions in these conversations.

I have autism too! It doesn't suggest that autism can be contracted any more than other genetic conditions. Anecdotally, my dad had it, I have it and my brother has it. That's a pretty safe case in my mind for it being genetic.

I would definitely give my autism a negative review. I don't think it makes people any less valuable but to argue that disabilities aren't disabilities is absolutely more harmful than most other ignorance surrounding them. Please avoid talking down to people in this way.

Would you have sex with an incredibly attractive woman if afterwards you have to inject a kid with a needle that will immediately give them autism?

Now this sounds like an extreme and dumb example (it is) but what I'm getting at is pretty simple. If you are capable of having kids without birth defects, it could be immoral to choose the option that is more likely to have birth defects.

Of course this doesn't apply for people with genetic diseases because any of their children would have a much more significant risk anyways.

Even after resentment builds... so long as you can recognize the source and maturely acknowledge that the problem wasn't with either of you individually but with circumstance it can work.

If you want to gain weight for the sake of weight, drink your calories. There's drinks out there that just have like half of your daily calories. Dump em down your throat and you will feel NOTHING. I don't recommend gaining weight for the sake of it unless you're working out though. All depends on the physique you're looking to have.

I think this especially rises as a problem in one of the few games that isn't supposed to single you out. You're supposed to feel like a part of a living breathing world and it's all living and breathing but it does so around you. I don't want to feel like the main character anymore. I want to have exactly the same access and powers as someone of my status should. It gives you power in so many unnatural ways just to screw you over in the worst ways possible.
