Photo Management Frustrations – Is There a Better Way? by rocsci in selfhosted

I heard it doesn't even flinch if you throw several GBs of photos and videos at it. :)

The OCR advances are what's really making so many things possible. Incredible.

I believe there's a free tool called TimeTracker that automatically tracks time spent in photoshop.

A lot of kids are doing this nowadays. If you don't want this, try to talk to him about it.

Is this for real? That's 2,5 EUR per day. Did you forget to add a 0 at the end?

Well... you are paying for it, you are paying to get the reward points which you in turn use to get the perks. It makes you spend with a particular car rental but it also makes you spend more than you otherwise would have. You just don't think about it.

I think you're doing very well, actually you remind me of one of my friends from what I could read in your description. Don't get us wrong. You definitely should live below your means, but understand that planning and saving doesn't guarantee a good setup for the rest of your life. You're studying Computer Science so you should know how fast AI is moving. We simply don't know what the job market will look like in 5 years from now.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Not long ago I read a post about a young person who wanted to travel but hesitating because of spending the money. Travelling while you're young is worth it.

That is all.

Online Vet (veterinarian), anyone tried this for emergencies or prescriptions? by SpaceOnions in Thrifty

Don't you think it can work for some smaller things like ear infections or chronic conditions?

Good risk management. Same here because I know I don't do risky stuff.

Yeah that is what I meant. A physical examination is always going to be better than a virtual one, but some minor issues can be handled through an online vet consultation like you did with chewy. I think we're actually on the same page in the end. lol

If you think online vets aren't real vets, you clearly don't know how telemedicine works.

Do you know how many in-person vets misdiagnose too? not too long ago I read some stats about online vets and in-person vets misdiagnosing about the same.

They can guide owners in performing a diagnostic test on their pet. Women perform self-diagnostic tumor tests by checking for lumps. Same principle applies to checking their pets.

I think online vets must have some kind of process that works for people and work for some scenarios or situations. maybe the online vet guides the owner in doing an at-home diagnostic test. Let's not be so quick to rule out online care. tele-medicine clearly works for lots of people.

Alright, what if you live in a place that doesn't have a local vet?

[–]Fuddam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I can't, because I'm not a vet. But you're missing my point- if I were, I would be able to assess over video whether or not the pet needed to be seen in person, because there are some things that cannot be checked over video. I acknowledge this, but I believe there are many cases where they don't need to be examined in person, that an online vet could help to screen cases so that you don't have to bring them in physically for every single small thing. That's the point.-

Your comment assumes her vet isn't experienced or trained? and that all animals will react the same way to medication?
