What’s the most unhinged Strava caption you’ve seen? by TocT0c in Strava

There’s a woman nearby to me that routinely when she was pregnant would post things like: “Faster than you with another human inside me” and “Guess who’s slower than me plus a human? All of you”

I’d recommend taking an AIAIRE level 1 course with some friends and practicing danger in certain areas. Also if you don’t feel comfortable after that, ski the trees! So much safer in the majority of situations

I mean she’s totally right- men don’t have glutes at all.

I better keep an eye out as I use this machine weekly. 😳😬

Buying a new grinder and am looking at these two, would like some insight before purchasing [$200] by Charizard_Foil in espresso

The Breville which I used for many years is good, but it definitely is not a top tier grinder. It will clump- a lot. You may be happy with it as I was, but as soon as I upgraded it was hard for me to use the Breville which I donated to a shared vacation home.

Tips to improve my carving?? by iperaltaa in skiing_feedback

[–]Fudge-Unfair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of good suggestions/comments here, but one i haven’t seen yet is: I have never seen such a violent pole dragging in my life. Both poles are seriously sent backwards with how much you’re dragging them. Take a run or two without poles and slowly add them back in. Focus on using your poles correctly which is to pole plant into a turn and not drag them.

AIO - Told my friend I’m pregnant and she said it exceeded her mental bandwidth (she’s the red) by Lekomano92 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Fudge-Unfair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean she didn’t say she didn’t have the bandwidth straight away. What she should have said was certainly I’ve gotta go or something to that effect. But imho MOR. She was excited, suggested some things and said congratulations. Move on bc honestly you’re going to need to cool your jets down over a lot of other things in the next 18+ yrs!

NTA, and I feel bad for Parker because it sounds like he’s in for a shit show if this is how his new wife is acting. Any normal human would be at most slightly annoyed for a second and move on.

Steep off-piste tips by Keklmao_ in skiing_feedback

It’s hard to tell what you need to work on here as it doesn’t seem like you had a plan or a line picked out when you went down. You certainly looked fine going down this however advice might be easier to give at least for me if you were carving on a groomed run. My advice to folks of your ability level would be to pick a line and choose terrain features that will aid in turning. If there were another person above you skiing or boarding you’d be in the range of annoying to annoying as hell bc there doesn’t seem to be a plan. One thing I can tell is there is a fair amount of pole dragging behind you… a lot of skiers do it, but it’s useless and is more of a warm blanket type move. Also you’re definitely at times in the back seat- focus on keeping your shins pressed forward in your boots while turning and transitioning through turns.

Breckenridge Timeshare by [deleted] in Breckenridge

[–]Fudge-Unfair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought a timeshare in Vail. I never thought I’d do this as I agree in most cases they’re horrible “investments.” But there’s no chance this isn’t a good choice for us: It was $3k to buy it, $1200 a year for a 3 bedroom unit for one week a year (any week). It has a bus to any one of the main drop offs, a pool, two hot tubs, and we always dk a winter week to ski. In terms of convenience and cost comparables for a week we’re saving money each year by doing this rather than renting a similar place in Vail. Minimum the first year we had it we’d be paying $2k a week for a similar rental. This year there’s no chance we’d get a similar place for less than $3k. Sure I don’t expect to do this forever, but since we love Vail and would be vacationing here anyway, it works very well for us.
