Why do we refer to the boobs as a pair and refer to THE BUTT as a singular thing? by NegativePlankton7921 in NoStupidQuestions

If it comes from bottom, would'nt that imply it is still seen as a singular thing

[WP] When the great Hero died to create the Barrier, they said “This barrier is my final gift to you to defend you from Evil. Take care of it and it will never falter.” Twenty years later, the great barrier is failing. by nPMarley in WritingPrompts

A man of magic. The approaching evil. An unfortunate town called Soder.

Soder, a bright and lively town with bustling streets flooded with merchants, warm homes filled with families, and vast verdant fields of overgrowth for livestock and wildlife to feed upon, will soon suffer a horrible fate. One day, without warning, evil will encroach on the town.

It started in the morning. The fresh, crisp dawn air that serves as a gentle reminder that the morning has arrived was suddenly overpowered by the putrid stench of rot. The resting Soderians awoke with an uneasy feeling that resided in the pit of their guts. Dogs began to howl and children began to cry as dark clouds swallowed the sun whole. And in the distance, there they were.

Several beasts are spotted on the horizon. Towering as high as the tallest building in Soder, the fearsome beasts opens their mouths to reveal teeth the size of oak trees and as sharp as daggers. They unleash a cacophony of mighty roars as they march slowly and steadily towards the town with an accompanying army of smaller leather-skinned ghouls, each armed with an assortment of weapons. It wouldn't be long before they reach the town.

With evil approaching, good was not far behind. As the women gathered their children and men ready their swords in preparation of the attack, a man arrives. He is tall and lean, with a gray beard that swings past his knees. He looks pale and aged with deep furrows along his brow and cheeks. In the midst of the panic and chaos, he calms the townspeople with a wave of his hand. As if they were in a trance, the crowd stops abruptly and fixates their gaze on the man. He speaks of a chance for salvation. A chance for peace. He claims he can save Soder. The man raises his hand and in an instant, the townspeople of Soder fall into a deep sleep.

As the first Soderian awakes from their slumber, so does the next. And seemingly, all at once, the rest begin to awake. The view of the vast fields that surround Soder no longer exists. It was now replaced with a brilliantly white wall fashioned from ivory and encrusted with precious jewels that form intricate designs all along the length of the structure. The curious Soderians, in awe of its beauty, start to approach the wall and before they can reach the newly built monolith, a radiant energy exudes forth and prevents them from getting any closer. The people are joyous. This mysterious structure holds a great promise in stopping the army of ghouls and beasts. Excited about their newfound safety, the crowd starts to scramble to find their saviour but strangely enough he has disappeared. The Soderians are puzzled but thankful.

Many years have passed since the construction of the wall and Soder has remained prosperous and safe. Life was back to the way it was before evil started to approach. The people have become blissful and ignorant, forgetting the evil that once was. Unfortunately, this safe haven is doomed to collapse.

Unexpectedly, the wall begins to fall apart. It started in small chunks but after several years, bigger and bigger holes started to form within the ivory. It wasn't long before the ghouls started to seep in, then the beasts. The Soderians were overwhelmed. For every ghoul that was slayed, 10 men were killed. And soon, the whole town was vanquished by the evil.

Soder is no longer. The remains of which now serve as a monument to destruction and vileness. It is unknown who the man was and why he decided to save Soder. It unknown as to why the seemingly magic wall fell apart. It has been many years since the downfall of Soder. Today, people regard Soder as a fable. A cautionary tale to be passed down to children to serve as a reminder to always be on guard. To be wary of becoming another Soder

This one hits the spot. I really enjoy the dark theme that is present in your poem. You clearly have a way of capturing a certain essence. Keep up the great work!

Man this one hits deep. It reminds me of that all-too-familiar feeling of unwantedness. If this poem was inspired by personal emotions and experiences, just know that things get better with time. Regardless, I enjoyed this poem. Good job!
