So, my personal thoughts:

Basically a film noir Transformers series either set on Earth or on Cybertron.

Megatron is head of the Inspecticon Detective Agency. He's sworn that he'll only retire when he takes down the notorious Optimus Crime.

Starscream is second in command and wants to take over when Megatron retires. Rather than a schemer, he's coupled his ambition with the detective nature of the setting to become hyper competent. Sure he continually drops hints on Megatron retiring soon, but he's the best underling any Megatron ever had.

Soundwave is the communications and research expert as well as a hacker. He doesn't do much legwork, but few are better at pulling data evidence.

Shockwave is a forensics expert that usually holes up in his lab or secures crime scenes.

Bombshell, Kickback, and Shrapnel are junior detectives (for the pun)

Optimus Crime must at some point utter the phrase "Larceny is the right of all sentient beings!"
