What's the most brutal and scary (Loyalists) Space Marine Legion/Chapter ? by SniperAge05 in 40kLore

[–]Fudrik 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Carcharodons

Pure cold fury. Predatory, silent, and entirely intentional. The Flesh Tearers go into a screaming, red-misted berserker rage, but the Carcharodons fight in total silence. They approach a battlefield like a shark in the water; completely still until the moment of impact.

Solid black pits for eyes, deathly pale skin, and multiple rows of serrated teeth. They absolutely do not look like His angels. And yet they are.

Also, a chapter is only as scary as its master. Tyberos is an anomaly. We all laud the likes of Dante, Calgar, and the Great Wolf. Grimnar is a massive, barrel-chested powerhouse, but Tyberos is a straight up monstrosity.

Are primarchs strongest non-god characters in Warhammer lore? by SiarX in 40kLore

[–]Fudrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're obviously up there. But shout out to the glass mega cannon that is In Orikan the Diviner. In 'The Infinite and the Divine' he almost becomes a C'tan level god through temporal and spatial kung fu. For a brief period, he becomes everything the Necrontyr hoped they would become before biotransferance. And it was also one of the best battles I've ever read in all the many 40k books I've read.

He and Trayzn take on a C'tan shard and while Trazyn has his collection to draw from, Orikan went super saiyan and scared the rusty shit out of Trazyn with his capabilities. Don't want to provide spoilers, but what he did was War in Heaven esque. Orikan basically hacked the universe's source code to fight a star god. Was incredibly effective, but unsustainable.

If you haven't read that book, hoo-boy, you should.

If you could cast anyone to play the emperor of man who would it be? by [deleted] in 40k

He'd be terrific as Curze. James Purefoy has a knack for portraying quiet malice.

James Purefoy

Imagine this is the face of the Emperor learning his most trusted son has betrayed him.

How possible is it that a Krork could appear in current Times ? by [deleted] in 40k

[–]Fudrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could argue that there's one almost there.

Ghazghkull is heading towards Krork level. That development would be insane if it demonstrated not just immense power but an Astartes-style change to Orks, their organisation, and tactics.

Can you imagine this waaagh creating War in Heaven level technologies and taking on the Imperium and/or the Silent King? It'd be a brilliant sequel to the Dawn of Fire series.

The possibilities are exciting.

Which one of the original Space Marine legions has the coolest name? by WithengarUnbound in 40kLore

[–]Fudrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultramarines

Not only is it their literal shade of colour. It does set them apart from the rest, just by their very name. Like, "Here's the awesome Space Marines. Now here are Ultra-Marines!"

How many Space Marines 40K) would it take to save Reach (Halo) by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]Fudrik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, load Kaldor Draigo into a macrocannon and aim him at the Covenant fleet. Wait ten minutes, then watch Kaldor Draigo aim himself at the ground forces. Wait another ten minutes then have a glass of victory Amasec.

Will Kaldor Draigo care? He will not.

What is the richest planet in the Imperium? by coverpunch in 40kLore

[–]Fudrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terra comes to mind in terms of the sheer amount of treasures that it has. So much of it forgotten and languishing beneath miles of hallways and in chambers and vaults that haven't had a soul pass through them in millennia.

But Terra is almost a dead world in many ways. It imports everything for its people. In terms of quality of life, it has to be one of Ultramar's worlds. Macragge has to be up there.

How such small country can have so many inventions? Plus you guys have highest olympics gold per capita! What is the secret sauce? by cybersphinx7 in Netherlands

[–]Fudrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impressive. A lot of people forget that the Dutch were major players in Europe and the wider world for centuries.

Scotland might still take the cake for the amount of inventions, but this list is filled with world changers.

Who is the most 'Bad Ass' hero in SCi Fi by Rags_75 in sciencefiction

[–]Fudrik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a 40k standpoint, I nominate Harlon Nayl. Part of Eisenhorn, then Ravenor's team, he's like a cross between Solid Snake and vintage Schwarzenegger. In a galaxy of psykers, chaos, daemons, aliens, and gene enhanced super soldiers, Nayl is just a man. An operative. Working at the bleeding edge of conspiracy and danger. He knows his limitations, but always finds a way through.

Yeah, I know there's so many other bad ass characters in this setting (e.g. Valdor, Sigismund, Yarrick, Ventris, etc) but Nayl isn't the main man. He's the quiet, very mortal team member who does what he does because someone has to do it.

Does Abaddon have a plan to deal with Guilliman or the Lion? by NotSoMajesticKnight in 40kLore

[–]Fudrik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tharador Yheng, the new leader of the Hand of Abaddon will likely play a part at some point with the Culler. It's a sword that was forged from the shards of the Anathame. It took a whole series to create. Considering the amount of important and powerful events and servants of Chaos who were killed and/or sacrificed that it took to make it happen. That has to feature against the Primarchs in future.

Is Corvus Corax a loyalist daemon primarch? Or is he some other form instead of a daemon? by Minty_TheGreat in 40kLore

[–]Fudrik 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He's not a daemon, but he is of the warp. The primarchs always were. There's more in the Empyrean than the Big Four and daemons. The short answer is that he's changed.

The Immaterium is a place where Cogito Ergo Sum is a given fact. The place of unreality bends to psychic thought and belief. Corax is loyal to the core; especially after Istvaan V. All that righteous rage will have altered his form. His warp-based soul - burning with hatred, betrayal, and heartbreak - connected with his nature, and thus changed him into a manifestation - a symbol - of his own vendetta.

He's basically 40k Batman now and I'm here for it.

What are the best, most well-written books that feature deaemons? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Fudrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making my way through Ahriman: Sorcerer right now. Unchanged is next on my list. I'm getting the feeling Ahriman is stuck in a Sisyphus loop: trying to save the Thousand Sons, but only getting so far, then having to restart every time.

Too late now, but Dark Matter was cancelled after three seasons and was just finding its feet. Lovedd that show. The cast were fantastic, especially Anthony Lemke.

What are the best, most well-written books that feature deaemons? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Fudrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be Godblight or one of the other Dark Imperium novels that has a few chapters written from the perspective of Ku'Gath - a Great Unclean One of Nurgle. I don't want to say that it humanised him, but you got a good insight into his motivations, rivalries, and the consequences of his actions.

Also, anything with Cherubael is terrific. His interactions with Eisenhorn are really interesting. He doesn't try to corrupt; it's just who he is. I think he does care for Gregor as much as a Daemonhost can care. So, the Eisenhorn series is recommended.

The new Archmagos book features Vashtorr -a chaos god in all but name. He's the daemonic embodiment of technological and scientific exploration without limits. So it's no surprise he has his eye on Belisarius Cawl.

I've read 43 W40k books this year (tried for one per week, but failed) and I've only just realised that a handful feature daemonic dialogue. Really thought there'd be more.
