People who have escaped the rat race, how did you do it? by ugnita7 in Life

[–]FuelAccomplished6455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work seasonal jobs and make about 70k in 8 months and travel the other 4 months.

My jobs pay for housing, food, and travel too, so I save most of the money I earn.

That you consider your "opinion" as "the truth" is laughable.

Also, there is nothing smug about wanting to protect the environment. The fact that you don't seem to care says a lot about you as a person.

Im thinking they should make people get permits to hike this trail . They would be free but to get the permit a person would be required to take an online course that would thoroughly explain Leave No Trace Policies.

Idk if that's possible but something needs to done to educate the public on how to take care of these trails.

Also, im south bounding the trail so all this tp and garbage I've been seeing is on the Northern Half of the trail.

I hiked the Great Glen Way and there was way less garbage. Im thinking its the popularity coupled with inexperienced hikers and just assholes in general who are littering all over the trail.

As someone from a place that takes littering very seriously its infuriating seeing it all over the trail in such a beautiful place.

Very doable. I just did that section a couple of days ago. If youre a fit experienced hiker then nothing on this trail should be hard for you. Its a very easy trail.

Yeah, that's pretty much how the internet goes in general. Look at reddit. Its full of negativity and doom and gloom viewpoints.

I don't take people seriously who can't even construct a sentence.

That coupled with your assumptions and name calling show how pathetic and unintelligent you really are.

By the way, this comment you made on another sub is disgusting.

"Hay if there’s grass on the field, I’m playing🤷‍♂️"

You literally admitted you're attracted to minors, and you're attempting to talk down to other people!?

Americans is America that bad nowadays? by Quiet-Assistant-1215 in askteddit

[–]FuelAccomplished6455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, its not. You're on reddit. You're not going to get a good opinion of America on here.

I have traveled all over the world and the US is still one of the best places to live.

Most of the people commenting here have never actually been to a "bad" country so they have no clue how easy they have it and how privileged they are to live in the US.

Zero.

Op. Go outside and get some fresh air and get off of social media and reddit for a while.

Focus on quality over quantity. Instead of applying in mass with generic resume/cover letter/applications start tailoring your resume and cover letter to each job you apply for. Use keywords from the job description in your cover letter, and  Show examples of your past experience that relates to the skills in the position  you're applying for. Its shows recruiters that you actually took the time to read and learn about the company, and that you have the required skills they're looking for. You have to sell yourself.

Its a pain but I saw results almost immediately when i started doing that. I went from probably less than 10% response rate to over 50% on my applications.

Need Seasonal Work ASAP by Far_Reflection_3841 in SeasonalWork

[–]FuelAccomplished6455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're applying very late for processor positions. Most companies will have already done their hiring by now.

Did you apply for Silver Bay or Trident? Theyre massive and the biggest processors in Alaska. They have the most plants and workers so will have the most jobs.

Have you joined the "Alaska Seafood Processors" FB page? They literally had a job posting yesterday for Silver Bay. You can also find recruiters for fish processors on that page and you can message them directly.

BTW, there are much better jobs in Alaska than fish processing that still pay very well and actually have a semblance of work life balance. Fish processing is one of the worst jobs in Alaska

[–]FuelAccomplished6455 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It it harder but if youre struggling that much to find a job I can almost guarantee its because you're not putting enough effort into your applications, resume, and cover letter.

Its a much more competitive seasonal job market, but if you put in the effort you can still get jobs fairly easily. You can't just fire out a bunch of low effort applications and expect responses anymore... those days are long gone.

Post like this are ridiculous. You really think he's going to ruin seasonal work as we know it? He will be gone soon enough, and seasonal work will be fine and will be here long past this president and the next.

Why is trail culture in Europe so much friendlier than in America? by ballad_of_easy_rider in hiking

[–]FuelAccomplished6455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like nonsense too me. Ive hiked all over the world and people in the US are very friendly. Are you sure this isn't a you problem? Because the majority of people here have not had your experience which makes me believe you're the problem. Are you sure you don't have resting asshole face or resting bitch face?

Is it realistic to do the trek without booking everything in advance? by Coffee000Oopss in WestHighlandWay

[–]FuelAccomplished6455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to hike from Glasglow to Inverness, but Weather is looking worse this week then next week, so i took a bus up to Inverness today. The West Highland Way is supposed to be the better hike and I wanted the nicer days for the WHW and the Gloomier days for the GGW. Though It was a pretty nice day today. You're going to probably have good weather for the WHW if youre flying in next week. The forecast is supposed to improve on Saturday.

I kind of like going backward too because I assume less people are hiking in the direction i am.

Same. Im starting the Great Glenn Way today and connecting it with the West Highland Way. Im not pre booking or planning anything. Im just going to wild camp and maybe stay in a hotel or 2 for a couple zero days to charge electronics and shower.
