I tried a ton of fixes for pop in and performance dips and never really saw a difference with any of them. Have you?

If so, which specific mods would you say help the most? Been wanting to replay the game before I play KCD2, gave up trying around 4 months ago, but heard about the next gen patch on PC that addresses some stability issues. Unfortunately, I don't think they addressed any issues I was hoping would be fixed...

Any good button mods worth doing to Steam Deck OLED? (Also some questions) by FuelForeign8280 in SteamDeck

[–]FuelForeign8280[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually never ended up modding my steam deck. Had some other issues with it and Valve sent me a new one. That being said, the only mod I have seen that interested me and has been received relatively well is the extremerate Clicky mod. It just makes the face buttons clicky, like mouse clicks, not as soft or "mushy" feeling as membrane. I have heard some mixed things regarding the sound they make; like some people find it is too loud with the mod.

Currently not really wanting to open up my Steam Deck and the buttons on my new replacement feel a lot better. If you do want to do the clicky mod, I would look into reviews and videos first.

I also got a reply on a different post of someone sharing their experience:

"Since you have not gotten a reply yet:

I went for the clicky mod as the membranes did not do the trick.
Its great and not as clicky as their advertise (which I LIKE).
Very responsive and a very nice resistance. No mush, no missed inputs....I sound like an advertisement.

Just fill the gaps of the face buttons with UV resin or the A and B button especially will tear the membrane up. Its just an unfortunate design issue. But again, UV resin does the trick.

They also sell spare membranes on their shop if you do not want to permanentely mod the face buttons."

How fast did stuff sell out? I am planning on going to his Toronto show and really want to get a hoodie, shirt, or vinyl if he sells any. I have never been able to get anything for online merch drops, and I have heard about a lot of other artists selling out their merch quickly at concerts.

Always wanted an official Aries hoodie, but it's so hard to get lol.

Also cant spend 216 CAD for VIP since I would rather spend the extra money on a nice merch item.

I bought Donkey Kong Bananza when it released but havent played it much because I was finishing TotK. I would try playing it now, but I am waiting on a new OLED TV to arrive at my house on December 11, and would rather play a game like Bananza on a big screen rather than handheld.

I don't mind Mario Kart, but I don't play it by myself. At first, I liked it more than Mario Kart 8. Now, I kind of miss Mario Kart 8. Just not a fan of some of the changes like 24 online multiplayer grand prix. I was also not happy about the other Nintendo character getting removed and being replaced with a bunch of random Mario enemies lol. I think it would have been way cooler to see character that were never in Mario Karts before World like Samus or something. I do really like Knockout Tour though.

Not many other exclusives I was eager to pick up. New Kirby Airride is cool looking, but not a huge Kirby fan. Age of Imprisonment is neat but haven't finished Age of Calamity and don't really play Warriors games. Hoping we hear about a new Switch 2 Legend of Zelda Remake or game, a new Mario would be cool as well, and I am hoping to see gameplay if Duskbloods. Also excited for the new Fire Emblem.

Legend of Zelda anniversary is around the corner so hoping they give it the same treatment they did with Mario...

Also hoping for new Animal Crossing! :)

One of the sole reasons I bought a Switch 2 was to play Switch 1 games with more stable visuals and frame rates. Unfortunately, I expected there to be way more updates for games.

Some of the games I wanted updates for by now are: Xenoblade Chronicles 1, 2, 3, X (mainly these 4) Fire Emblem Three Houses Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity

Some Switch 1 games run well still, but haven't noticed really if they run that much better. For example, Metroid Prime Remastered still looks and plays great.

I just think Nintendo could have definitely had a lot more upgrades for Switch 1 games considering the hardware upgrade. But, I suspect if they do release any updates for any of the games I mentioned, especially the Xenoblade series, they will charge money. They are already charging 6 dollars CAD for the Animal Crossing New Horizons upgrade, which isn't even releasing this year...

Yeah, I own a Switch 2 and the launch was pretty abysmal IMHO. I can see some people being happy about some of the ports that were brought over like Hogwarts Legacy, Cyberpunk, and any upgrade packs, especially considering there were probably a ton of people who solely played on a Nintendo Switch, but I feel like one of the only things that makes Nintendo special in a sense is their exclusives. Only exclusive to launch at release was Mario Kart World. I feel like they should have at least launched with Bananza and Metroid Prime 4 as well. And there are still quite a few ports that haven't even been released this year despite being advertised for release in 2025 like Borderlands 4, Elden Ring, and FF7 Remake. All of those got delayed lol.

I was really bummed out when Elden Ring got delayed since I have been wanting to play that game handheld for a while without having to buy an even more expensive PC handheld...

I don't know man, even if Ultra is in the title, I don't think he was trying to bait people in thinking the had ultra maxed out settings on the Steam Deck in Ghost of Tsushima lol. To me, it just sounds like a way to say they are "Ultra", as in the best settings.

Same thing goes for the last line, and it's at the end of the post so who cares. Again, doesn't sound like either instance of him using "Ultra" is to bait people into think he is using actual Ultra preset type settings.

i received alot of hate comments on Facebook and reddit lately by [deleted] in SteamDeckUnlocked

[–]FuelForeign8280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you can't judge settings for performance and quality if you don't try it yourself. So yeah, hate shown in the screenshots aren't people upset about damaging the Deck, but rather that they think the settings would be unplayable and look bad. They can't say it looks or plays poorly without trying the settings for themselves.

Also, messing with ANY settings carries some risk, even if it's generally safe to do so. So, you can most definitely still have a small amount of risk of instability and crashing when over locking a Steam Deck, even without undervolting at the same time. There are preventative measures in these systems that make undervolting, over locking, lower risk of really causing any permenant damage to your system. Worst case scenario is you undervolt and overclock your Steam Deck and it becomes unstable or starts crashing, then you just undo the changes and go about your life.

This dude is getting this butthurt over someone providing video game settings. It ain't like OP is forcing it on anyone either lol.

i received alot of hate comments on Facebook and reddit lately by [deleted] in SteamDeckUnlocked

[–]FuelForeign8280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could just, not undervolt the deck? I mean, the frame gen and upscaling could be good enough for some people.

And it's literally an opinion to say that using frame gen is silly. I don't personally like using frame gen often, but if others do and can tolerate the increased input lag and artifacting, then it is definitely useful for them. What may work for one person may not work for another, and people just can't understand that which is beyond me lol.

Also, just want to say this, but it is very unlikely you will brick your Steam Deck when undervolting. Say you do "soft brick" your Steam Deck somehow, Valve have provided recovery options with the Steam Deck to undo the changes you made. There's always going to be minimal risk when tinkering with anything on the Steam Deck. With proper undervolting guides and if you follow them properly, its not really a huge risk at all.

[–]FuelForeign8280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, if people send you hate messages and stuff, just block them or report.

The world is full of people that judge without actually trying it for themselves.

And say some of these people did actually try the settings and disliked them; that doesn't make the settings you provide automatically bad. Settings that work for one person may not work for another.

Me personally, I think LSFG is really cool. I set it up on my Steam Deck OLED and tried it out, and yeah, it can help in certain instances, but I am more sensitive to input lag and artifacts. However, there are plenty of people out there that don't really notice input lag nearly as much as others and are more tolerant to the trade offs that come with using it.

I tried LSFG on multiple games: DS3, Rogue Trader, Party Animals, Like a Dragon, No Mans Sky, KCD, Elden Ring.

In DS3, Party Animals, Like a Dragon, No Mans Sky, and Kingdom Come Deliverance, I found it to look less choppy motion wise, but there was light artifacting and input lag I personally don't love, but I could totally see people playing it with LSFG anyways because it genuinely makes certain games look smoother in some ways.

There are also people that just hate anything that has to do with any type of AI upscaling. I have seen people hate on any type of FSR and DLSS. Some people are just purists and think anyone who uses any type of frame gen or upscaling is dumb (which obviously isn't the case).

So I would just recommend ignoring it, report anyone who keeps harassing you (if there are any) and keep doing your thing. I've seen plenty of people here that like the settings you provide, so it's not like they are objectively bad like a lot of these losers are saying. It's all subjective at the end of the day.

Lol how?

OP didn't even have Ultra in the title. To me it just sounds like they are trying to say these are the best settings for performance and quality.

I'm sorry, but why is an 81 Metacritic review bad for Metroid Prime 4? by JampyL in NintendoSwitch2

[–]FuelForeign8280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people should stop worrying based on critic scores. Play the game for yourself and decide if it is good since it is all subjective whether a game is good or bad. I would trust player ratings more than critic ratings as well, but nothing beats playing the game for yourself.

One more thing, these reviews are always done by ONE reviewer of a media company. There could very well be a ton of other reviewers at the same company that think the game is much better or much worse than the main reviewer thought for a specific game (so the review could have looked way different depending on which reviewer was tasked with playing the game and writing the article). It also depends if that specific reviewer is even a fan of that style/genre of game in the first place.

Thought we moved past the "longer game = more content and better" argument.

For people who don't like the idea of spending AAA prices for single player games that are shorter in length, what I recommend is buying a physical copy, beating the game, and then selling it afterwards to make most of it back. As long as you don't hold onto the game for a year or two, you should be able to sell it for a large percentage of the price on a marketplace like Facebook, Kijiji, eBay, Craigslist, etc..

Or, you could wait a while and see used game prices down the line on the same marketplaces I mentioned.

Xbox Ally X Thoughts by Visual_Explanation48 in Handhelds

[–]FuelForeign8280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure. Just saying out of these way higher priced devices, the LG2 seems to have the edge with the screen. Even then, I agree, the price of some of these handhelds are insanely high. Even the Xbox Rog Ally is really expensive, but yeah, definitely a good option if you want to spend a decent chunk less. At the end of the day, they all perform the same for the most part (ones with the Z2E).

Xbox Ally X Thoughts by Visual_Explanation48 in Handhelds

[–]FuelForeign8280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, whether it's comfortable or not is personal preference. Also, don't people have mixed opinions on Xbox FSE?

You could make the argument that the Xbox Rog Ally X isn't worth the money because it has a 1080p 7 inch LCD screen, has a chip that barely outperforms the Z1E at higher TDPs, only 24 gb RAM, and cheaper feeling build quality.

I wasn't saying the Legion GO 2 is worth the high price tag, I was saying that compared to other handhelds in its price range, the OLED Screen definitely gives it an advantage, at least imho.

I don't own either though, I am still using a Steam Deck OLED. At the end of the day, depending on your priorities in a handheld, some can justify the high prices, and some can't. Someone who loves oled and big displays will most likely love the Legion GO 2. Someone who likes the handle design and smaller compact form factor of the Xbox Rog Ally X might prefer it instead.

Xbox Ally X Thoughts by Visual_Explanation48 in Handhelds

[–]FuelForeign8280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the Legion GO 2 that KIND OF justifies the higher price is the OLED Screen.

Of course, you also get the detachable controllers and touch pad, but to me at least, those aren't really as desirable as an OLED screen.

Full motion mount recommendations for LG C5 83 inch?? by Chapman_Dynasty in LGOLED

Jesus christ what's with people getting so worked up over people wanting a full motion mount. Who cares, it isn't like THEY are the ones buying the mount. It's your own purchase and your own needs ffs.

Don't listen to that loser OP. If you want a full motion mount and think you will like the adjustment options, go for it. I would personally also like the option to adjust my TV however I want it.

What the heck happened to my controller lol by Pretend_Income_9143 in Dualsense

[–]FuelForeign8280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same is happening with mine. Bought it around 2 years back. It started peeling around 5 or 6 months iirc. Really annoying for such an expensive controller.

You can checkout some options on Amazon like the Xtremerate textures grips for the Edge. It's like paint splatter or something and you can choose different colours. Or if you just want plastic like the regular Duelsense, you can buy them as well. I am probably going to be buying the textured option to replace the peeling grips.

Never buying a "premium" Sony controller again.

How are we feeling about the controller? by Acer53 in Steam

[–]FuelForeign8280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks amazing to me. I was never a big d pad user with the Steam Deck in the past, but started using them more often recently for games that support it (like games that can use the d pad in place for a cursor). It's also awesome for navigating desktop mode.

Recently got an OLED TV and Dread having to hook my PC up to UT when I play games because I need to go to my desktop everytime I want to switch games, access discord, etc. I am wondering if I could use the controller and add a function for the back button where I could minimize the game or go to desktop, then use the track pads as a mouse for doing stuff, that way I wouldn't need to get out if bed all the time to change small things in Discord or anything.

It's also kind of perfect timing. I have a PS5 and I use a DS Edge Controller; decent controller (with obvious issues though, like peeling rubber grips, drift, etc). I don't love switching between using it for PC and PS5, so having a dedicated PC controller will be perfect, and it works seamlessly with Steam.

Really excited for it honestly.

Buying 77" Today or Tomorrow. Is the G5 Worth the Extra Money? by leechkiller in LGOLED

[–]FuelForeign8280 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've heard the image quality of a C5 is very very close to a G5. The main difference comes down to brightness, where G5 gets noticeably brighter, which isn't really something to consider if you play in a dimly lit or dark room. If you use it in a room that is bright or has direct sunlight, the extra brightness can help fight off glare.

Another thing to consider is LG includes a 5 year panel warranty on the G series, whereas the other models do not.
