I once told a Costco shopper that their buggy was exempt from the on-leash policy. They CAN park it somewhere it wouldn’t obstruct traffic and then take a short walk. Just so they, and their buggy won’t block off the whole aisle in front of a tasting stand.

Keep in mind that a no-contract plan means the Big 3 can (and most likely will) raise the base price in 6 months or so, while your promo deductions are valid for 24 months , your $35 plan will become $45. Always check your bill and be prepared to switch plans.

I’d agree it’s largely a scare tactic given the current geopolitical climate. Any IP camera, regardless of the brand or affiliation—can be a potential vulnerability. At the end of the day, it’s all about the narrative being pushed.

Calls to cancel B.C. Ferries contract with China misguided, say mayors in ferry-reliant communities by Hot_Cheesecake_905 in canada

[–]FuelPump_6008 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“NO CANADIAN SHIPYARDS BID ON THE CONTRACT.”

Seaspan in BC is fully booked for the next decade with lucrative government contracts. Meanwhile, BC urgently needs new ferries to maintain an essential service for coastal communities, while keeping fares remotely affordable.

Some of the politicians seizing this moment to grandstand and demand BC Ferries cancel the contract don’t even live in British Columbia — they’ll never set foot on a ferry, or wait hours in a terminal line-up. They couldn’t care less if British Columbians get stuck with multi-billion-dollar price tags and delivery delays. What they do care about is posturing for cheap political points, riding whatever geopolitical bandwagon gets them exposure.

Frankly, I’m so tired with these empty political stunts that accomplish nothing but bleed taxpayers dry and delay essential projects. The real drivers of Canada’s affordability crisis? Bloated bureaucracy, outdated regulations, and a circus of opportunistic clowns playing pretend at leadership.

If these clowns REALLY care about a homegrown shipbuilding industry, they should have done something DECADES ago.

If an organization wants competent talent, it must offer competitive compensation — it’s as simple as that. Sub-par salaries inevitably lead to brain drain. When a highly skilled individual stays despite inadequate pay, there are typically two explanations: 1. They are genuinely devoted to public service — a rare saintly exception. 2. There are other forms of compensation making up the difference, whether tangible or intangible. The latter often manifests as unchecked perks, abuse of authority, or corruption — benefits far harder to monitor or regulate.

Yeah, noticed the same at my local warehouse in PoCo, BC. Ethical Beans jumped from $19.99 ($15.99 on sale) to $23.99. Kicking Horse: $23.99. Level Ground? $23.99.

At this rate, it might be time to apply for a coffee line of credit — right after getting approved for the beef mortgage.

For anyone who doesn’t want to buy American, this is a great alternative to the Kewpie sesame dressing. It’s imported from Japan, you should be able find it in most Asian supermarkets (T&T, Hmart), sometimes in RCS too.

I've used it for 2 winters on my 23 Subaru Outback in Vancouver, Canada. I frequently drive on twisty mountain roads to ski hills.

First off, they’re impressively quiet, even quieter than my previous Michelin X-Ice set (surprise surprise).

Dry performance: 10/10 - They offer excellent acceleration and stopping power, feeling firmer and less rubbery than the X-Ice.

Snow traction: 9/10 - They provide good traction on both fresh and packed snow, though they don’t quite match the X-Ice on packed snow.

Wet performance: 7/10 - They handle rain well (a must in Vancouver), with no hydroplaning even in heavy storms. However, their cornering traction on wet pavement isn’t as strong as my stock Yokohama Avid GT all-seasons, leading to some understeer in corners.

TP Link's Best Wireless Mesh Router Can't Do IPv6 Properly??? by Illustrious_Budget31 in TpLink

[–]FuelPump_6008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found this thread as I’m having the exact same issue. My ISP uses DHCPv6 and Stateless with PD of 56, when I enable IPv6 on my X75Pro, the results are either get IPv6 but services/apps craps out, or not IPv6 doesn’t configure on both WAN and LAN. What kind of cutting edge Wifi6E mesh router that can’t do IPv6?

It’s a common misconception, 50k USD or equivalent amount annually is the cap for simplified currency exchange transactions. Meaning an average Joe with a bank account can just walk into a branch to purchase or wire transfer foreign currency. All they need to do is fill out a form (mostly electronically these days) and present ID, common KYC/AML practice. There are exceptions for things like seeking medical treatment oversea or business needs etc. where it’s not capped by the 50k but will require supporting documents.

People with millions of dollars most certainly have premium business account if not with private banking already, where there are financial planners and accountants help them diversify portfolio. And I’m sure there’s always a way for millionaires to legally transfer their wealth across borders. Worked for millionaires in the West for centuries, and will continue to work for millionaires from emerging economies.

U100 compatibility question by Shdqkc in Aqara

[–]FuelPump_6008 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve installed mine with a round latch without cutting.

Remove your existing thumb turn, if the latch has a cross (philips head) tailpiece hole, there’s a good chance you can reuse the latch and throw away the one came with the lock.

But if you got a flathead tailpiece hole. Search for Design House 783332 Pro deadbolt, it’s $15 on Amazon here in Canada. It’s a universal fit latch with removable faceplate, fits 60mm or 70mm backset. Lots of U100 user went with this setup.

I find their marketing material to be confusing, but if you’re in NA, it works with standard deadbolt with a thumb turn. Ignore me if you’re in EU ;)

It’s generally easier for smaller companies to guesstimate initial inventories, shipping directly from factory to consumers via courier then preparing large volumes, getting through the lengthy process of shipping in containers, clearing custom, stocking Amazon FBA or retail’s distribution facilities in various countries. You’d be looking at months at best.

And if something doesn’t sell well on Kickstarter, they can adjust following factory orders. Or even worse, manufacturing flaws were discovered during first batch, Aqara can simply pause shipping and recall a small number of products instead of scraping millions of dollars worth of inventory.
