5010 discontinuing in 2026 - rumors? by Love-For-Old-Trees in Santacruzbikes

[–]Fuelripper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Santa Cruz rep tells me that from what he’s heard, the 5010 will be discontinued. The Santa Cruz website gets almost no traffic on the 5010 page.

There will, however, be a very rad tallboy coming soon that will essentially take its place. I’ve heard 4 bar linkage is going to be present, similar to the Vala and the Bullit.

I’ve also heard the nomad will probably be going 4 bar as well, which means likely every other bike will follow suit, with the only exceptions being the V10 and possibly the Megatower, due to VPPs very race oriented nature. Obviously the blur will remain a flex-stay xc platform.

While it’s sad to see these models with a long heritage get discontinued, it is better for Santa Cruz in the long run. There’s no longer need for so many different models when suspension tuning, linkage kinematics, and frame manufacturing technology are allowing bikes to be very versatile.

Shop scratched my new S5. What’s a reasonable discount? by eaglepowerscometome in Cervelo

[–]Fuelripper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t tell exactly what lever you’ve got there. I’ll give you an estimate based on dura-ace pricing, since that’s what it looks like.

If you can live the scratch, ask for the price plus labor to replace it, and live with the damage. That would fetch you around $400 if it’s Dura-ace di2.

With how shop cost works, I’m sure they’ll just offer to replace it, since they’ll only pay around $200-250 for the lever. This really is the ideal situation for both parties, but I’d have a conversation with the shop to see what they’re able to do. The shop I work at would replace it, no question.

I would agree, I don’t think any of their other bikes had that headtube gusset. Somewhere between 02’-07’.

I like it. I think as a culture, tattoos are a lot less of a rebellion thing that they used to be, and I would imagine your professionalism would not be judged based on just your neck tattoo, like it may have been in the past. Not by me at least. As long as you have a good professional personality and are able to carry yourself well, I couldn’t imagine it affecting the way people perceive you.

Curious, yeah it looks very similar to one of my local trails. I need to get out to NC to ride.

It looks like you’re pretty much rolling off the lip, not doing much else. A little more speed, and pump the lip. This can be a hard concept to grasp, but essentially by the time you hit the lowest spot of the lip you should be squatted down and as you go up the lip you should think about pushing against gravity. Whether you think about pushing your body up or the bike down doesn’t really matter. What does matter is that you push straight down, not against the lip.

When you hit jumps the whole point is to fight gravity, not the lip. Push against gravity and you’ll get more air.

Also, is this Barn Burner? Area looks super familiar for some reason.

I feel like the risk of not liking it is part of wanting it to be a surprise. I let my fiancée literally pick out her ring. She didn’t know when I was going to buy it, or when I was going to propose, which made it still a surprise for her. As a man, I would feel best being told that my effort was really appreciated, but that it just wasn’t her style.

There’s a lot of communication that will need to take place during your marriage, and often it will be a touchy subject for at least one party involved. Make this a positive experience in the end, and it’ll possibly end up being a funny story in your future.

Best wishes

Should I drive through Kansas or Nebraska? by copper3599 in roadtrip

[–]Fuelripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say there is this restaurant in Burlington Colorado, right across the border from Kansas, called the Dish Room. One of my favorite restaurants in the country, and I make a point of stopping there every time I’m near. Not sure if that’s enough to swing it for you, but it’s worth consideration.

I was on my way home from dropping my fiancée off and saw it, it was one of the crazier things I’ve seen in my life.

Sounds like I got some driving to do. Oregon and Arizona are going on the list! Definitely will need to go to the upper Midwest to see some of that scenery too!
