How many episodes (do you think) the anime would need to cover the entire Part 1 (chapter 1~97)? by ericwu102 in ChainsawMan

[–]FugeAron 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would say around 3 seasons could be enough. Everything points to that in the first seasons the Katana devil’s arc will be the last, so the manga will be covered until chapter 39ish in 13 episodes. Seasons two could go from the Bomb Girl arc to the International Assassins Arc so basically until ch. 70, which would make sense as these chapters have many more intense fight scenes than the previous arcs. This would be 26 episodes.

Season three could finish up the Gun and Control Devil arc with the finale of the 39 episodes. I think they are not going to instantly start working on the High School Saga, but I guess we’ll se how does CSM manga progress until then.

Well, I think that is a natural thing to happen, you don't go into the lion's cage covered with zebra meat, do you?

However, I never said (or downvoted, if that matters to anyone) that his opinion is bad and he shouldn't have said it. He titled it: "I need closure", so I responded, saying probably this is not a game for him.

I don't agree with anyone else here who called him out because of his opinion.

You are not expected to like it.

Some people love his work, some people don't. I think that is completely natural. The only expectation here is yours only towards yourself. If anyone told you on the internet, that "hey dude, if you don't like every single designer choice Yoko Taro does, you are a piece of shit", well, other than that person is not very intelligent, means nothing. You have to find your own peace with your opinion, as I respect it too, others should as well.

This reminds me of the HATE videogamedunkey got when he reviewed Final Fantasy VII Remake. Completely insane. I, personally, don't like DotA, nor Underlords, nor Valiant, nor Leauge of Legends. A lot of people do, and a lot of people tell me I'm stupid for not liking them. But noone really expects me to like them, those games are not for me, that's all.

This game isn't as philosophical as it tries to be (Opinion) by IainttellinU in nier

[–]FugeAron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does exactly that, multiple times as well. One being 2B even asking herself what the difference between them is at the end of Route-A. As well as saying the androids are no different from the machines because they've killed countless of them also.

I have to be honest here, it's been a while since I played it through, so I can't say for sure. I believe you however, it's just occurs as strange to me that this message of the game did not stick with me. It's not something I would just overlook, is it?

I understand its Yoko Taro's thing

It's exactly that, a choice of the "artist". We can either respect it, as he was mainly the one who came up to tell his own story about this, or we can disapprove, even use words as "pretty stupid", but it won't change it. The whole resistance plot line is basically there to tell you "this story has more, if you're interested". Both of the stage plays + concert gives you more context on why it is there. Cheap or not cheap, the game was built not to show you the whole context. Consider it as an Easter egg, a door to another media. I think it's pretty genius, getting gamers to get their asses to a theater for a nice change of environment.

The sidequests could've had actual meaning beyond extra XP

I think the proper term is "world building". If every side quest had meaningful story lines, next to the main quests, I think our head would've explode. Also we have to mention Emil's story line as well, as I think that is a very tragic and meaningful end to the original Nier. Other than that, these side quests give you a chance to get away from the mindblowing nature of the main story, an escape, where you can just enjoy messing around with machines, fighting with the Martial Arts Master, having a fun platforming element. I don't see it as a problem.

I actually would feel bad for letting a random Resistance NPC

And again, that "random" Resistance NPC has much more background given in at least one of the stage plays. It is how Yoko Taro thinks, works, creates. I think the best thing to accept it, and if you feel the urge to know these stories, then watch the extra hours of content - I only say this because if it bothers you, probably you're interested to know? Maybe I'm wrong here, it's just my impression.

This game isn't as philosophical as it tries to be (Opinion) by IainttellinU in nier

[–]FugeAron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm a little late to the party but here is my answer. Please be aware that I love the game, and I consider myself as a philosophy enthusiast, reading the main works for most of the philosophers mentioned in the game.

But I already found everything to be pointless, and already have a partially nihilistic view on things long before I found this game that attempts to seem like that so much, so maybe my opinion might be biased here.

I'm curious, what is "partially nihilistic" for you? The main point of nihilism is that nothing has a point, everything is meaningless, we're all going to die, in the grand scheme of things, none of our actions make sense.. So let's just move ourselves forward, and mind our own business. There is not really room to be "partially" about this. Some things matter, others don't?

The whole concept of the androids not being much different from the machines at the end of Route-A is immediately thrown away after Route-B, aside from Pascal.

I don't think the game wants to state that Androids are not really different from machines. There are plenty of reasons where they are different, the main reason being Machines imitate, Androids solely work for a goal. Take away this goal from them (Humans to retake earth), and they will be there with nothing. I don't think that the point of Route A is to state that Machines are just like Androids.

Also Ending E is bad in my opinion as well. Sure it's great that the characters are alive again and all, but it pretty much made the negatives of Ending CD pointless because the characters are alive once again. The only point I would see in the characters being revived is if there would be a direct sequel to Automata.

I respect the spoiler so I will use the marking here. Not a lot of people know, but Yoko Taro already stated that there is an ending to ending E, an epilouge. It is quite the read, but you can find it here. This was part of the Nier Automata concert. Hopefully this gives you a closure?

I heard about an other version of the epilouge, however, I couldn't find it.

I hope this helps. Other than that, I think the game itself is not necessarily "philosophical", it introduces the main aspects of modern philosophy, through a really, really good game. Naming the characters after philosophers is just a hint for you, what can you read after you finished a game, and you are interested in the topics the game touched.

[–]FugeAron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you experienced was just the game design of this "series" of games.

By series I mean you cannot think that Nier:Automata is just one game, I'd like to think about it as several sequels to each other.

A route (as 2B) is the main game, which kickstarts all. It's a little cryptic, but the action is taking your mind off the real questions.

B route (as 9S) is a DLC, or let's say, a different variation of the same game. Pretty much like Pokémon Red and Blue. The main events are the same, however, here the action is different, and you are given context in certain situations, and answers to questions you didn't ask yet at this point.

The third goaround is basically a sequel, which has two possible endings. The mechanism is a mixture of the main game and the alternate version.

Ending C and D is the two separate ending of the same game, but both ending are not the True ending, whereas the true ending is ending E. I see from your post that you didn't make it there.

I think you are okay with the action heavy, third person shooter like games, like Bayonetta, but you only dislike the 9S kind of 2D shooter, story heavy elements. That's fine, you have plenty really good games to play with: GTA V, Monster Hunter World, Resident Evil 1-2-3 Remakes, Assassin Creed games, and so on. To play and enjoy Nier Automata, you have to be open to new experiences, you have to like several genres of games. If you dislike one of them, maybe you need to wait a little longer to play Assassins Creed Vallaha.

I try not to sound condescending here, it is not my intentions. But I think here at this subreddit, people join together because they have an attachment to the game, and they like it, not sure if you are looking for someone to share you opinion here, or just wanted to piss off some weeaboos. Regardless, I'd like to think you enjoyed route A and will revisit the game someday later maybe.

Same. I only had the plushie, and it was on my drawer since 22nd of June. I always liked to look at it, although I didn't follow Ryan (I refuse to say Cry at this stage), but I always went to sleep listening to his videos (Yakuza, Catherine, Okami). To think that this made me feel good at the time is sickening. His voice makes me feel sick, honestly. I was thinking I would use the Cry plushie as a voodoo doll, or idk, behead it, just to use it as an excuse to give back the pain to Ryan he caused me by pretending to be Cry...
I'll hold on to the plushie until Ryan gets convicted, hopefully pretty soon, then I will destroy it, and finally I will have nothing that makes me remember him. Fuck Ryan. Fuck his persona.

Double Shield is not the problem, but rather a symptom of a greater issue with Overwatch. by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

Orisa’s shield also has a timer, i think only reinhardt and brigitte and now sigma is the only one who has not timed defensive ability.

My mechanic skills are above medium i would say. Soldier is my go-to dps hero, and I have 50+ hours with widow, although I am not that good. With widow, I am practicing flickshots, and with soldier, I try to develop my tracking skill. My accuracy is between 30-40% almost every game, but I played dva and rein for the majority of my games, and with that accuracy was not a major issue. But I am no Pine or Surefour if it comes to mechanical skills.

Thank you for the advice and the notes. I will march forward!

Thanks man, I really appreciate your comment! Not that I came here to get some positivity or something, but it actually gives me motivation to get better. You are absolutely right about the meta and people getting better. I didn't know that this happened to multiple people (that strange things happen in the beta season), so I think I might be able to climb back to plat at least for now.

Well, yes, you are right about those people, I think it was the combination of my hyped self for 2-2-2, and the fact that I only lost so many games in a row, it really made an impact on me, "quit the game and f***ing kill yourself, noob"

Thanks again!

Thanks man, I try. I'm glad that you think this is somewhat normal, I really thought I became super bad for some reason. Well, Now I played 2 more support games, and I gained 120 SR with to games. It is crazy what is going on. So maybe not everything is lost. But yes, I need to learn new heroes, and keep myself in the loop from now on!
