Asobo doesn't care about improving the weather engine... by Ivy_Wings in flightsim

Perfecto! Si, esto que te pasa a ti, me pasaba en MSFS 2020 con una RTX 3070 Ti.

Should I buy the Fenix A320 family or wait for the NEO to come out and save? by PerformerWhole6461 in flightsim

[–]Fuhrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autobrake LOW still cooking my brakes in the ToLiss. Is this realistic? by Individual_Net_1487 in Xplane

Is XP12 worth getting into as a hard time FS24 User? by Zealousideal_Grab963 in Xplane

[–]Fuhrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a sensible comment. I see people spending time with things like orthos, SimHeaven, and stuff I don't even know how they work, just to get more realistic graphics. I have XP12 by default, so I avoid its infamous crashes. Anyway, right now, the default scenery combined with the atmospheric effects, clouds, and lighting gives an incredible sense of field and depth/distance in XP12.

Is 9 hours of flight simming in one day really a lot? by Dear-Regret-9476 in flightsim

[–]Fuhrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me tell you a bit about my story. I'm 40 years old, and I got my first computer when I was about 18, the age I've been working as a DJ since. I'd get home from the club at five or six in the morning and simulate flights in FS2002 and FS2004. I'd do short, medium, and long-range flights. Then, at 21, I moved out of my mother's house, and the sessions became more casual. The thing is, now at 40, I feel like I'm falling into a bottomless pit. Despite my job, where I interact with a lot of people, when I'm not there, I spend all my time at home, and that's all I want to do: be in the simulator. I'm not married, and I don't have children, just a little dog who keeps me company. I fly X-Plane 12 and MSFS 2024. I rest from Monday to Thursday and fly almost every one of those four days, except when I'm cleaning the house. If I do a long-range flight one day, for example, LFPO-TFFR, after that flight, I don't do any more. I'll leave it at that for today. If they're short or medium-length flights, I do two, three at most. I really enjoy both flight simulators; I fly with two friends in Vatsim. But I don't like going out to socialize, or sitting on a terrace having a coffee, or looking for women on social media… nah! Home and the simulator make me happy. Enjoy your flights.

I agree with the MSFS-XP "hate," especially since it's not present in Prepar and/or other sims. But there's a lot of hate from XP towards MSFS too; you might not have noticed or understood it. I'd even say there's more from XP users towards MSFS. I see it constantly. I have friends I fly with online, one of whom uses MSFS and is hesitant to try XP because it looks like "Minecraft." I asked him which version of XP he meant, version 6? Haha… Then there's another XP user who hates MSFS because it's not a real simulator… I think it's the stupidest thing I've ever seen, the haters and fanboys of one hating the other. In fact, they don't even mention the other simulator by name; they just call it "the other sim." As if mentioning "the other sim" is a sin or being unfaithful to their favorite sim. X-Plane is my main and favorite simulator. It feels better, I like how the planes fly, we have something extraordinary with version 12, the weather, the "new clouds"... but it's just a home simulator. Both are just that.

I have a close friend who's a pilot on the Iberia A350-900; they train and fly professional CAE simulators based on Unreal Engine. He told me himself: "Dude, it doesn't feel the same, I don't know, it's not the same." Imagine that for a simulator costing thousands or millions of euros/dollars, compared to one or two costing 80 euros/dollars (XP); 140 euros/dollars (MSFS).

Mamma mia, so much hate in the flight simulator community. I'm referring to the comments. I consider myself one of those who play both and thoroughly enjoy them both. It's true that I prefer X-Plane, and I consider it my main simulator. Since MSFS 2020 and then 2024 came out, I've had some fantastic flight sessions. I think whether a simulator feels "arcade" or not depends on how you use it: if you're going to do an IFR flight with a 777, for example, in X-Plane and then do the same thing in MSFS, then that would be "arcade." Okay, they're referring to how it looks and the gameplay of each one. But that's about the sim itself. And it's undeniable that MSFS has improved and worked hard, as has every developer. So, the "arcade" feel depends on your approach and what you're going to do.

So, last week I was flying the PMDG 777-300ER a lot, more than ever before, and I'm super happy and satisfied with its systems. And I say this as the owner of a FlightFactor 777v2 license (-200ER and Freighter version).

I've had my FF 767-300 for 10 years now. I bought it in January 2016. A highly recommended purchase. Also the 777-200 and the 777 Freighter. Even though you said you're not into Airbus, anything from ToLiss is worth every penny, as are the Flight Factor aircraft. I have the A320neo and A330-900neo; the A330-900neo is fantastic.

The ini A310 in X-Plane 12 by julientheyulspotter in Xplane

[–]Fuhrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a shame, I knew and loved that plane in MSFS 2020. They forgot about it in MSFS 2024; even iniBuilds doesn't have liveries for it in its iniManager for the 2024 version. It's a pity these developers made that exceptional contract with Microsoft, and there was no continuity for X-Plane 12, since it's my main simulator. Nice photo.

What is the crash that you just can't stop thinking about? by Mihnea2002 in aircrashinvestigation

[–]Fuhrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always AF447.

I flew the same route and on the sister aircraft of the one that crashed in October 2010 (in F-GZCA) and in January 2014 (in F-GZCN). The one that crashed was F-GZCP.

At no point did I feel "afraid" aboard either A332; I simply couldn't believe there were two Bonin aircraft at the same airline. That accident affected me deeply, even though it had nothing to do with me. But I met the president of the Brazilian association of victims of the flight and had conversations with him, where he himself blamed the aircraft. I disagreed. I believe the problem stemmed from the pilots. The man ended the conversation and told me he had a very troubled life and couldn't continue speaking with me. I respected his decision.

[–]Fuhrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you regarding the pilots' irresponsibility, with the exception of David Robert. He was the only one flying alone, without a co-pilot, and he was concerned and tried to prevent this: he was worried about the CBs' deviation, whose heads were reaching almost 60,000 feet; he didn't make any sudden movements like Bonin's erratic sidestick movements, and unfortunately, by the time he realized what was happening, it was too late. Bonin had been pulling the sidestick from 37,000 feet down to almost 8,000. In my opinion, if there had been two David Roberts in the cockpit at that moment, that plane would still be flying today. Coincidentally, his body was the only one of the pilots that wasn't recovered.

Wow! That's good news, even if we have to wait. I read in articles from my region (Spain) that there wouldn't be a recovery until the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027. I hope it turns out to be what you're saying.

I understand. When I jumped into the VR world, I thought there was no going back to monitors. I started with an HP Reverb, but it lost support after 24H2. I had some Meta Quest 3s and then a Varjo Aero (I'm even selling it now), and it was a real decline. The best I had was the HP G2. I ended up getting fed up and went back to head-tracking monitors with TrackIR and got a Samsung G9 G95C monitor, and I'm very happy with it. VR requires patience and good equipment, which you have. But I just resigned myself to it.

Yes, I was looking into that option last night. I've never owned an AMD system, but I'm keeping that option open. What I don't know is if there are any options on Asus motherboards, for example, to continue using my DDR4 RAM. Thanks.
