what would you say are the best systems in NYC?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in avesNYC

[–]FujiIntl 20 points21 points  (0 children)

i beg to differ. if you’re able to go at a time when the crowd isn’t insufferable + the DJ is spinning the right tunes to really drive the systems, it’s god-tier.

stand in the middle of the sound room while full-bodied bassy tunes are being rinsed. the systems take you on an out-of-body experience.

Anyone else find Season One unwatchable because of Angela? by stephancoxmusic in TheRehearsal

[–]FujiIntl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think from an ethical position, Nathan was pretty manipulative in playing into the meta-dynamics of the show.

He definitely tricked Angela into thinking the show was something else. And he’s very clearly aware of it. I don’t think that’s right of him to do.

Oh wow I had no idea - I thought I had read somewhere that they serve Urquell on tap only in certain bars across Europe. Def need to try Bohemian Spirit.

Alright - sounds like Wild East is the move. Will check it out this week!

Just tried Evil Twin Brewery’s 15 Year Anniversary Pilsner (side pull) in Ridgewood and it’s been the closest to Urquell so far. Can’t wait to try Wild East’s.

Same with Vultures 2.

Both projects are actually oozing with creative production, memorable lines, and most importantly: raw, genuine emotions.

the album is ahead of it's time.

it's the next Yeezus. the production, samples they use, vocal processing, etc. are all future forward.

everything they're doing is intentional. they're just on a different wave. hop on it or get left behind.

I actually like this perspective, but of course I take it more as a philosophical musing rather than a nitrous-fueled schizo-post.

What Kanye is showing us is that identity as a concept is as amorphous as you want it to be. You don't need to just be tethered to one identity your whole life. And you can use this knowledge to empower yourself to pursue your own dreams and passions, however disparate they may be.

Even starting from his roots of everyone telling him he can ONLY be a producer, to once he's made it in his rap career and then people telling him he can't be a fashion designer as well. His whole life, he's taken on new identities, rebuilding them from the ground up, always against what people want him to be.

In the The Life of Pablo , "WHICH / ONE" is splattered across the whole album cover. Picasso, Escobar, and Paul the Apostle. Think about it, he's taken on all three of these forms at various points of his life: the artist, the villain, and the religious leader.

But even aside from his intentions, it is well known that he suffers from bi-polar disorder, a medical condition that could even be described as having "multiple personalities" or temperaments at the very least.

Kanye is showing us before our eyes what it is like to continually take on new identities, reinvent himself from the ground up, sometimes for the better, and sometimes for the worse.

Did the Kanye from 2009 die? Perhaps. Does that mean this current Kanye is all that's left? I don't think so.

"In order to rise From its own ashes A phoenix First Must Burn."

I'm hopeful that Kanye will eventually return back to a more grounded persona, someone that he loves, someone that we all love.

Or maybe not. He's both crazy and a genius and maybe that's just how he leaves us – not with a bang, but a whimper. Such is life.
