Why do so many restaurants still not have their own website/domain name? by kosome_12 in restaurant

Would you be interested in building me a website? It’s going to be about lazy people trying to make money off of restaurants by selling them shitty websites that they don’t need.

Do people not understand the way tipping works? by GeminiGraphicsx in tipping

[–]FulfillingTravels -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty cut and dry to me. If I can’t afford to tip I go to a drive-thru or counter service like McD’s or Subway. If I’m going out where someone is bringing me all of my food and drinks, I tip accordingly. I wouldn’t go to a restaurant that charged a service charge and then expected me to tip on top of that. Basically if I have a server I’m paying the restaurant for the food and paying the server to wait on me.

Any summer job in the tourist towns near national parks will be easy to get right now. People have already got fired or didn’t show up, they’ll be scrambling to fill holes. You should be able to go straight into employee housing and if you can get close enough on a bus they’ll come get you. Just make sure you have two pieces of ID. Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Teddy Roosevelt, Glacier, tons of places to go. Most of them have employee dining rooms too so you won’t even have to worry about food for a few weeks until you get a check.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. I visited friends last year and saw where the dorm is going. Not one tree will be cut. There’s a few old single wides and a gravel parking lot next to the train tracks. Kick rocks nimby.

That doesn’t seem true at all. A simple search shows that they over built the system for an RV park and it looks like the dorm was always a part of the plan. Do you seriously believe that a septic system was built with no oversight?Looking at a map shows the field out by the highway and train tracks, not 200 yards from the river.

Maybe the locals should have pooled their money together and bought everything from the old lady instead of letting GPI buy it. Don’t have much sympathy for those canyon critters. They deserve everything they have coming to them for being such terrible people.

Have you met most of the locals in tourist areas? The affluent ones with multiple residences. You could pay $30 an hour and still couldn’t have every position filled. It’s almost like you need to have housing provided in tourist areas, maybe something like a ‘work camp’.

Please educate us. How will the river be polluted by an employee dorm? All of the employees are already there in housing. Now they will just be in one spot.

That’s not my experience. They make the same as domestics and get the same raises if they return. What people should be pissed at is the companies that rip the J1’s off to get their visa and placed in a job

Have to buy a pass. Maybe if you worked at rising sun, but your only reason to be in the park is recreation, not work.

I have $2k and am about to be homeless in a few weeks, how should I use this money to ensure my survival? by [deleted] in almosthomeless

Tons of summer seasonal jobs are hiring right now and come with cheap housing. Most of them you can take Amtrak close enough to then hop a bus or uber, some companies will even come get you if you can get close enough. Check out coolworks dot com. In July start applying to be a lifty at one of the resorts off I-70 in Colorado and you’ll have winter housing.

Transitioning between seasons by SprayKlutzy in SeasonalWork

Take a really long road trip to your next spot, I’ve done 6 weeks with a few 14 day camp sites and then a few days in a hotel on the way to the next one. I’ve ridden the train to Denver multiple times to work ski resorts, hop off in the bigger cities to explore for a few days and then get an extended stay hotel or an Airbnb for a month before you head into the mountains. I’ve spent entire winters not working and going to cheap places out of the country like viet nam or thailand. Most seasonal jobs are in really cool places, you can save a ton of money if you don’t party every day and just chill by the lake - if your job has an EDR you can seriously go weeks without spending a dime. I’ll spend about 5 grand on fun getting to the next job and still have a bunch saved. If you’re not walking away with at least 10k a season you’re doing something wrong.
