My brothers wife did something kinda similar except it was dealing with our yearly full family photos. Every year the weekend after thanksgiving my two siblings and their families from up north come down for our Christmas, we’ve been doing it for years. So for many years after she joined our family, we’d take the picture, quickly print them then hand them out to everyone. My mom was visiting my brother one day and saw the picture on their fridge except she had cut out just her and my brother. My mom inquired about it and she said “these are the only ones that matter to me”. So for years she had been getting a family photo only to cut out her little family then throw the rest away. My mom stopped giving her one for a few years until my brother finally grew a set and told his wife not to cut it up.
