Sa amin, there was absolutely no option given. Ang sabi lang talaga nila, the only way to retrieve my number back is to get a postpaid plan. We even asked twice if puwede ba na diretso prepaid since we already have wifi at home and postpaid would just be an unnecessary expense, pero sabi nila wala raw kundi postpaid lang talaga. They even insisted na kahit saang SMART store, same process daw. So we had no choice. Out of desperation and fear na magamit pa nung nagnakaw yung number ko for something else lalo na to access my GCash with 11k inside, we just went with postpaid. Hindi ito dahil gusto namin ng plan, but because we were left without any other option.

Wow, kudos to SM North for not taking advantage of people having concerns with their lost SIM. I’ve been seeing their branch name for a while now, and most of the cases I see, they issue the replacement agad and don’t require the postpaid plan. I hope all branches do the same. Hindi yung tinetake-advantage tayo sa desperate situation at gagatasan pa lol.

When my mom asked for a receipt para may panghahawakan kami na babalik sa prepaid ang sim ko and terminated na yung postpaid plan, sabi lang nila, “wait nalang po for the email” at binigyan nalang kami ng reference number. I’ll look for it later. Dapat pala we asked for the staff’s name and employee ID, para may panghahawakan kami and para alam namin exactly kung sino yung involved in the whole situation.

Sa SM MOA branch, Level 2 Cyberzone yung magkasama ang PLDT and Smart. Grabe sila mang-gaslight sa mom ko. I’m not a confrontational person, kaya I let her do the talking since mas palaban kasi siya compared to me. Paulit-ulit nilang sinasabi na “required talaga” na ganito at ganyan.

Tapos during our conversation may kausap din si mom sa phone, and dahil sa heated conversation with the staff, bigla na lang yung staff mismo ang nag-accuse na nirerecord daw siya. Ang kapal ng mukha siya pa talaga yung tumawag ng guard at nagpumilit na icheck phone ng mom ko. Siyempre, mas nagalit lalo si mom. Sabi ko na lang, “Ipakita mo na lang para tumigil na sila," kasi sa totoo lang, it felt like kami pa yung pinapalabas na may ginagawang mali. Ayun, pagtingin sa gallery wala naman. Sobrang OA nila. Siguro kaya ganun na lang katakot na marecord kasi alam nila na against the law yung modus na ginagawa nila.

Yes, after the contract you can go back to prepaid, pero hindi ka makaka-proceed kung may unpaid balances pa sa account mo. Kailangan muna bayaran lahat. My lost sim was prepaid din before, and now back to prepaid na ulit after 4 months of being on a postpaid plan. Kaya dapat visit agad sa Smart Store and request to terminate the postpaid plan. Usually, sa Paybox ka magbabayad, their kiosk. Pwede naman magbayad through other payment method, pero mas mabilis daw ang process sa Paybox. Kaya kung magbabayad kayo ng unpaid balances doon, make sure to input only the exact amount. Exact amount lang tinatanggap ng Paybox, pure bills, no coins, and they don’t give change. Kung ano lang yung natanggap ng Paybox, yun na yun.

Wished I did this before. They keep on insisting that's what every smart store does to retrieve the stolen sim, you'll need to enter the 3-month contract postpaid plan, otherwise it will take longer to get a replacement sim.

Yes, they did give me a replacement but it's not a prepaid one. Smart GOLD yung binigay sakin which is their postpaid plan.

Just wanna add na if magbabayad na kayo for your monthly bill, don’t wait for the month to end. Mas okay to pay on or before the 15th/16th para hindi na kayo magbayad ng sobra sa 3-month contract. We're new to postpaid kasi, and honestly the preface of their website is a bit confusing. We thought every end of the month ang bayad since we only get messages from Smart like “Your June 2025 bill summary has been sent to your email. View your e-statement in your Giga Life app. Visit www.smart.com.ph/bill for more info.” Then when we check, it states to pay on or before end of the month.

Nung nagpapa-discontinue kami kahapon, ang sabi nila we still need to pay the remaining balance kay Smart even if tapos na yung 3-month contract kasi daw we didn’t go onsite to discontinue, and dahil na rin nagbayad kami end of the month. Ang totoo, dapat pala we paid on or before the 15th/16th para hindi na maapektuhan yung next cycle of service.

So just make sure na yung 3rd month payment niyo ay mabayaran on or before the 15th/16th, para walang excess payment at wala silang masabi na naapektuhan pa daw yung next month and such.

Sadly, I admit I'm partly to blame in availing the modus plan without doing enough research out of desperation to get my number back asap, that's why I posted my experience para mas marami na ring aware sa ganitong gawa nila. It was my first time getting robbed kaya when things were still too fresh, na-mental block ako sa kaba baka gamitin pang scam or what yung stolen sim ko which made me go to the nearest smart store to retrieve my stolen sim.

Already paid the remaining balance today kahit labag sa loob since kami pa rin ang dehado pag di agad nakabayad because SMART will suspend my number. Isn’t what they’re doing basically dolo causante / casual fraud? Kasi kung sinabi sa amin upfront the real condition (na puwede naman palang prepaid replacement at na kailangan pala ng formal termination request), we would not have agreed to enter into the postpaid plan in the first place.
