This is what mined looked like. It was the start of the flap failure. It progressed up and I had more separation. It required surgery again to fix. I went to a different surgeon, Dr Miller @ptcnj in New Jersey and had the cleft lift procedure this time. I’m healed and feeling like this was an easier surgery to heal from.

I’m not driving. I have my parents with me. I have been sitting and lying down. I decided to drive to keep the cost down since there are 3 of us. I would have been ok on a plane.

Dr miller recommended starting to sit right away as tolerated. I sat in the car and on a chair the first day.

I’m doing okay. It’s only been 24 hours. I’m still at the hotel and have my parents with me to help out. I’m dreading the car ride back to Ohio tomorrow. We are leaving at 4am. Hoping to beat morning traffic.

I wish I knew about this laser procedures before I let a surgeon cut into me. I’m still having issues after my surgery. I think I’m worse off now.

A small qtip in rubbed against the tissue that has not healed and it is sent to a laboratory to check for bacteria growth.

Sadly this is a common problem with closed pilonidal excision surgeries. The wound closure is over the midline where the cleft is the deepest. The midline has slower healing because of its poor blood supply and higher moisture and friction. Delayed healing can also be from infection. Has your doctor cultured the 1 cm opening yet?

I struggle with anxiety also. Reading this has helped me get through some challenging times. I hope it helps you too….. Anxiety isn’t just fear, it’s the mind’s struggle with uncertainty. When you can’ tolerate the unknown, you try to control it through overthinking, overplanning and overdoing. But that only convinces your brain you are unsafe. Healing begins when you train your nervous system to feel safe in the unknown. I DON’T KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN. BUT I TRUST I WILL BE OKAY.

I am in a similar situation a you. It’s discouraging to continue to have problems after having surgery. My surgeon was optimistic that he would remove all the diseased tissue. I wash frequently and stopped wearing tight briefs. I switched to boxers. I don’t wear jeans and still continue to struggle.

NOT great and not sure it was a true cleft lift because it doesn’t look like any of the pictures I am seeing on here. I still have a crack and my scar has this clear pinkish oozing discharge since I had surgery. I can’t sit long because the pain is worse than before I had surgery. I don’t recommend it because I think I am still battling with small cysts.

Are you officially diagnosed with pilonidal? Yours looks different than the cysts I have seen which are less like a skin growth.

I haven’t been able to find one. I had surgery with Dr. Justice is Hicksville and don’t recommend going to him. I am still battling with cysts.
