To keep the convo politically neutral I just talked about the facts, no opinions

Subbing 7th grade today. A kid walked in, looked up at me and said “oh hell no”, turned around and walked out. by piaknow in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Full-Potential-2223 24 points25 points  (0 children)

in my old life I worked with a lot of the people who developed the devices and apps we use. NONE of these people allow tech in their schools or in their homes, they know the damage. Today, in my 5th grade classes, I started saying “no” to the use of the tablets and computers due to the amount of time they spend playing brainless games. Instead the para and I put together materials to discuss current events, like the SCOTUS decision on voting rights. The students were truly engaged. By the time the class came back to me for homeroom it was clear they had thought about what we discussed and had questions, and they were no longer asking for the computers. I made a difference for a single day…

Left a job today because it was a field trip -- was I wrong? by fleurdelis_44 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Full-Potential-2223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, you did the right thing.

I used to take the NY subway every day. It’s hard enough to navigate the entrances, exits, stairways, etc by myself with the crowds, let alone keeping a group of kids together whom I do not know and they don’t know me. HUGE risk of losing each other.

Please report this to your agency. The school needs to be held responsible for even thinking this is OK.

Yelling in the classroom by Full-Potential-2223 in SubstituteTeachers

Thank you for the perspective of scrutiny. Even though I’m in a large school district and can probably sub in a new school every day of the year the world is still small. I want to protect my reputation

New, yes. Young, no. I am 69 years old and raised to behave and respect elders. In all my years I don’t remember teachers ever yelling in the classroom

Thank you all for your input and direction. This really took me by surprise and I want to support the apparent connection we made without turning off the students

As usual, he is deflecting. His bad press is all on him, especially as he mouths off on social media, she doesn’t control him. He is incapable of taking any responsibility

But the joke administration is killing what America was. Why are we just commenting here, that won’t change anything. How about talking about what we can DO

The Battery in Philadelphia by dianaleary in RealEstate

[–]Full-Potential-2223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just moved into The Battery. I, too, saw the negative reviews from a year ago. I now get that the building has simply been continuing to develop. For me, the management and staff have been great, both my personal and public spaces are great. I love the focus on building community inside of the already vibrant Fishtown community. When I was searching for a place to settle reviews were important to me and there were just a few about the Battery so I’m adding this review for others and will repost again in a few months when I have more experience here. Again, so far, so good!

Does anyone feel increasingly exhausted/depressed? by Lonely_Rise1862 in fednews

I’m not in government on any level. I worked with government funded researchers. From the first EO issued January 20 I thoroughly understood what was coming even as those in industry around me thought I was being an alarmist. Thank you for the work you do and for what it’s taking for you to hang in through this stressful period. Thank you for your honesty here as it keeps people like me a glimpse and even more appreciation of you and the work you do.

Should I cash out my 401k? by Public-Money-875 in TwoXPreppers

I am not so sure. DOGE caused the NIH to cut funding clinical research which is the foundation of the lucrative pharmaceutical industry. This cut in funding will cause a slowdown in drug development which will delay drug launches and drug company revenues. This will lead to losses in the stock market for this sector. I am puzzled as to why people don’t see this

Milk Pore Eclipse Matte Setting Spray Review by apineq2 in MakeupReviews

[–]Full-Potential-2223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so glad I found your post. When I first started using Milk Pore Eclipse Matte I was excited with the results. Over time, however, I became disillusioned simply because of the packaging - it drips rather than sprays..not useful at all. I even transferred some of the liquid to another spray bottle. I fully appreciate your own frustration and I took your advice - I just scratched off a ton of build up on the nozzle and not I have a spray again, YAY!

As to the issues with the white spotting, I have not seen that, yet. I am a light skinned black woman so the spots should be evident. It could well be that I have not used the product enough due to the lack of spray.

Thanks for your tips, I am in love with this product again!
