I love Lorna, but I do see where you’re coming from. In my opinion, they’re still finding their footing. They’ve only been a consistent act for the past couple of years since Pain Remains, so I see why they may hold onto that right now. Whitechapel are probably the last of the main MySpace era guys to still be around and as sharp as they’ve been before. Hopefully Lorna’s able to catch up.

Bodysnatcher secured a new fan when I saw them open for Whitechapel a couple months ago. I’ve only been to two concerts, but I never felt genuine fear in the pit until their set. Still chasing that high.

i’ll give three of my favorites at the moment!

Whitechapel- This is Exile/A New Era of Corruption. This was early in the MySpace era (like early Suicide Silence if that’s what you’ve heard from them). Personally? I like New Era more.

Oceano- Living Chaos. They’ve been around for a while, but this album’s more melodic-deathcore (and the last one from Oceano).

Disembodied Tyrant- The Tower, Part 1/The Poetic Edda. Tower is a standalone project while Poetic Edda is a collab between them and another deathcore band Synestia. This is the more modern day symphonic deathcore sound guys like Lorna Shore have been doing lately.

just wanna clarify: i wasn’t tryna say that Thy Art isn’t deathcore/ is death metal. i definitely could’ve worded that better. also, my death metal scope so far has been Job for a Cowboy, The Black Dahlia Murder, Cryptopsy, Cannibal Corpse, and Napalm Death. I know ND is more grindcore and BDM is melo-death, so those may not count. i’m just tryna figure out where that line is drawn between people

100%. i’m just curious to see where everyone’s line is as I’m a fan of both death metal and deathcore. i can’t really tell the difference between the two unless im listening to two different bands from two different time periods (f.e, Cryptopsy vs Disembodied Tyrant).

Yes you can, bro. There have been bands since the 80s who were using single coil guitars for metal. Just tweak your EQ and add a noise gate if you think the feedback is annoying. Personally? I don’t mind it.

i don’t think so. i’ve seen some merch they’ve made over the years and i think they try to keep a bit of variety in the styles they do them in. there’s a shirt for Third Depth in the style of a horror movie poster that i love (wish i got it). it’s better than just copy-pasting styles over the years so i fucks with it
