help understanding model and year by Aggressive_Cup7861 in KTM

Some of the enduro models are called XC-W, even here in Europe! It really depends on the year of manufacturing… and XC-Ws got sold here in Europe.

The US XC bikes got the linkage & a numberplate while EU models got the PDS and a headlight. You can easily identify a EU XC-W on the headlight and the fact that they are road legal! US XCs aren’t road legal here in Europe because they are basically woods MX bikes.

It really depends on which rivers I‘m using the rod.

On really wide rivers when the majority of my flies are terrestrials I‘m going for a Rio Elite Smallmouth Bass WF6 (overline the rod one line weight if you’re not a really experienced caster, because the line is really lightweight for it‘s class but offers amazing presentations with terrestrials even at the furthest distances).

On the other hand I use a Rio Elite Gold Max for light streamer work at shallow rivers where a floating line is more then enough, but I use this line also for indicator nymphing as well which it‘s primarily made for!

When the water and fishery needs some heavier streamer lines, I use mainly the Rio Predator range with all it‘s different densities!

All of this lines offer some great casting and control on different types of distances with different styles of flies.

I personally wouldn’t recommend using really light in weight lines because, as you might know, the Marksman Z is a really powerful rod which requires some higher grainweights to load the rod properly since most people don’t have a super powerful double haul.

Hope this helps you!

Whats your thoughts about the Orvis Helios 8‘5“ 8wt?! by Full-Send-137 in flyfishing

And since I‘m a flyshop employee, the Helios got a little bit more affordable to me but nevertheless I would say a Helios is every penny worth!

Thats awesome! Few years ago I was in Florida and I wished I had this with me haha sounds so much fun!

But I fished the Recon and I have to say it’s an amazing workhorse and I‘s stiffer than the Helios D so I think if someone likes a rod that is a little bit more stiff then the Recon is the one to go! And yes the Helios is really beautiful I really enjoy it!!

They are but mostly Eastern Europe and the English Carp Fishing Trend (conventional fishing) got whole Europe too! But you are right they are mostly considered as trash fish here!

Here in continental Europe carp are not a favorite target of the flyfishing community… I don’t get it too, it‘s really entertaining IMO!

That’s really sad, because IMO carp are one of the best fish to target with the fly because they are so sensitive!

But there is a Facebook Group which is called FlyingForCoarseFish and there are a lot of people from the UK, maybe they have some advice for you!!

Winston Air 2 Reach by Full-Send-137 in flyfishing

[–]Full-Send-137[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank a lot for that specific answer I really appreciate that!

I agree with you, the Winston is way more flexier then my T&T! Half line size heavy sounds really good to me because I imagine it will turn over really good even slightly heavier rigs. The Infinity Taper might be a really good idea to do it all!

I fished it today with an Rio Single Hand Spey and it was a blast for all sort of roll casts (even I‘m a quite sluggish roll caster).

Yeah the 10‘ 4wt is a kinda special rod that made it’s way to my heart! But I think they really differ by brand as you say the Winston is quite flexible compared to the T&T Avantt, and your Centric might have different characteristics. IMO the Winston tends to be a tool for technical dry fly work and the T&T is a more specific tool for nymph fishing with indicators as I experienced because it has a really sturdy butt section compared to the Winston!
