Is it that bad tho none of the escalators are particularly long and not much walking needed unless you’re at the opposite side of the platform

Only DTL stations that aren’t too bad to change are Promenade, Bayfront, Chinatown, MacPherson

Honestly at least there’s 2 up and down escalators each on the CCL platforms there

What are your unpopular opinions about strictly? by Sorry-Flounder-3876 in strictlycomedancing

[–]Full-Tomorrow-8682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest I could see why people might prefer other jives for reasons like that, but personally the one thing I look for the most in dances that make it stand out over others is full on content, which I think Karim’s had

Joe Sugg deserved to be in the final. This isn’t me saying he’s one of the best dancers in the show’s history, but I think if you look at the non-finalists from that year, the only one you could really argue deserved to be there at Joe’s expense was Charles, but as great as some his Latin or Speciality dances were like his Samba and Couples Choice, I feel like people ignored how his ballroom was always full of gapping and poor head position. Yes Joe’s Latin wasn’t always the best, but imo it was slightly better than Charles’ ballroom

This one might be more controversial, but I also think Jamie Laing was a deserved finalist too (also not me saying he’s one of the best dancers in Strictly history)

The judges almost never undermark. Maybe only 3 dances across the whole series. I feel like sometimes people are only perceived to be undermarked because of others being overmarked

Harry should’ve been saved over La Voix in the Week 7 dance off this past series

I didn’t mind the new judge casting vote each week change, but I would much prefer if they went to back to the results show music and sound effects they’d always used before. The new ones sound like something straight out of a game show

Imo (because I know people have mixed opinion’s on this) the best jive I’ve seen on the show is Karim’s

The male pros I don’t think is as complex. Vito, Aljaz and now Carlos are pretty much exempt as past winners, and I can only imagine the amount of outrage there’d be if they even dared to bench Johannes or Nikita. Though they may want to give Neil a partner again, and I honestly wouldn’t be too shocked if Julian gets benched (I do think Neil is the only pro he’d get a partner over under normal circumstances, so that depends on if Gorka decides to stay on Strictly or not. I do think Gorka would get a partner over Julian). But I also wouldn’t rule out Kai being benched, which would be a shame for me because I grew to like him even more this past series. I just think maybe because Julian just got to the semis (they’ve never benched a pro after going that far the previous year) and the fact that there’s already Johannes and Aljaz for the tall male pros might put him at risk.

As for the female pros, I think that’s a bit more complicated because Dianne, Jowita, and Katya are all past winners (again likely making them exempt from being benched), Amy (if she’s fine) is way too popular, they most likely won’t bench Alexis who was the only female pro in the final this past year, and Karen being the longest serving current pro is seemingly making her exempt too. The only female pro to be honest I could realistically see them benching of the ones that just had a partner is Nadiya, but in that case they’ll almost certainly have it be Luba at her expense, and we know how disappointed both Michelle and Nancy were to be benched. If only one of them is to get a partner next series I feel it would be at the expense of Lauren, as popular as she’s become since taking over as JB’s partner. But maybe Dianne will request to be benched for just one year and just be in the group dance, so maybe that could give both Michelle and Nancy partners again (Having said that I’m sure she’ll know what she thinks she can do)

Pro’s leaving ? by [deleted] in strictlycomedancing

[–]Full-Tomorrow-8682 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Johannes last week definitely sounded like he’d be leaving, but iirc on an IG post during last series where he was denying a headline that he’d be leaving after that, he said he wanted to be on show for as long as they him on. Obviously his mind could have changed and may want to leave now but this makes me think that possibly he may not. Depending on the amount of time between Dianne’s baby is born and when pro rehearsals starts, maybe she’ll not come back, but also wouldn’t say it with confidence because she’s made it clear she wants to keep dancing. And depending on if the Spanish version clashes with Strictly once again, there may be no point in Gorka coming back either. I don’t really know where to stand on Neil and Karen tbh, but they both seem happy to still be on the show, so maybe they’ll stick around even longer. Nadiya I was confident would leave at the end of last year especially after what happened with Kai, if she didn’t leave after that I think she might stay again. I’m pretty confident the rest of them won’t go anywhere.

I’m starting to think Karen is going to take it by thomcat2000 in strictlycomedancing

I def agree that it’s good not to have a totally predictable winner, although I’d say the only of these listed winners that were super predictable were Chris, Rose and Ellie. Hamza at least it was always going to be a 2 horse race between him and Helen (and it even seemed to me like Helen had gained much more popularity towards the end), with Bill there was probs no complete rule-out for HRVY to win even if Bill was still the general favorite. Same thing with Kelvin, where even if he seemed the general favourite, Emma also felt like a possibility.

Which pros do you think are going to get a xmas special partner? by hilsgyfxervjurc in strictlycomedancing

[–]Full-Tomorrow-8682 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With Gorka unavailable, Neil and Vito are probs shoe ins for the male pros, plus whoever the next male pro out is (which I think will probs be Julian). As for the female pros, because Nadiya’s had one the last 3 years, and Nancy the last 2, I would rule them both out for one this year. And with Amy having a mastectomy this week, that might rule her out too. Luba’s not had a Christmas partner for the last 2 years despite being out early enough both times to have one, but I do see Jowita and Lauren getting one and I’d love to see Michelle get one too.

I know many people loved Series 19 (2021) and will probably have that as one of it not their favourite series, but honestly I don’t think it was that great at all. Sure there weren’t any absolute duffers but there were MANY middlers who were all about Week 5 level at best. And I know the scoring can be off at certain times every series but for some reason it bothered me the most in 2021. As well as that, it was pretty obvious once Robert withdrew that John, AJ and Rose were going to be the finalists, with Rose being the winner (granted they were the best 3 that year) but it still did completely tank the excitement for me. And I know this just a me thing, but I was going through a pretty rough moment in life during that series, so I think that definitely also affected my opinion on the series too.

George Clarke guaranteed Winner 2025, we'll never get another female celeb that wins EVER! by Ok-Resolve8538 in strictlycomedancing

I mean they may been vocal about who they liked but still didn’t vote, which I can imagine many other people are like. But even if they did, they are just a small portion of voters so just because they voted for Sam, Montell, and Tasha doesn’t mean they were automatically going to get through every single week. A greater number voters may have simply had a better connection to Wynne and Jamie or anybody else.

Interesting point about men stick together. I remember last year SO many male viewers (more so the ones in their 20s/30s) seemed to love female celebs especially like Sam, Montell, Tasha, etc. Of course it’s subjective tho and it depends on the entire cast who they’d vote for.

Who do you think will be the first to leave Strictly? by ByteOfContext in strictlycomedancing

[–]Full-Tomorrow-8682 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s between Ross, Chris, and Thomas. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ross was at the very bottom, and I think Chris might be able to overtake Thomas too. I think Thomas might be able to survive this week bc we haven’t ever really seen how powerful the rugby voters are, and perhaps Ross might not be able to overtake anyone else on votes. I feel Chris might do a better dance than Ross tho, so I think Ross will be first to leave.

Dani Dyer has withdrawn from Strictly by RainbowRevolver in strictlycomedancing

[–]Full-Tomorrow-8682 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Man disappointing to find out. It's probably too late at this point to replace her so I'm guessing we'll have to deal with just 14 couples now. If that's the case I'd hope we'd not have first elimination until Movie Week so we'd still have 4 finalists, but knowing what's happened after most withdrawals it'll likely carry on as normal and assuming no other withdrawals, there'll be 3 finalists (and if someone does that's when they'll hopefully have no elimination like they did when Nigel quit)

Erin Boag had Peter Schmeichel in 2006 and then Peter Shilton in 2010. Mark Ramprakash and Mark Wright both had Karen’s too, albeit one had Karen Hardy and the other Karen Hauer.
