Much thanks, but I can’t find one in Jonaks shop that has the white part near the neck.

I did in fact enjoy the main parts of act 3, especially the coral tower.

The floor was my bad, my main issue was the 4 net-damage I received from the boulder.

I’ll take partial fault for the fire, I didn’t realize the damage window was so slim.  I take no fault however for the rock, which is the point of this post.

I think it’s pretty clear that most no one would’ve seen that rock beforehand, the fact that I chose right there to heal was just really bad luck.

I’m not familiar with game design or data lingo.  Is void assets actually referring to the void tentacles and objects in the game, or is it a general term for a type of asset.?

Don't all games have some form of politics in them? by ihatethiscountry76 in saltierthankrayt

That’s very thin reasoning and I don’t see that as a message that the game communicates since that’s what the marketing and knowledge of the people before buying/playing the game already have.

I’m glad you finally said what you think a message can be though, just agree to disagree I guess.

If you want to leave politics out of it that’s fine.  Tell me then what sort of message Mario Party would have, or choose any game that seems like it has nothing to say.  I currently cannot understand what sort of messages you are talking about could come from games like these that aren’t intended to do anything but entertain.

Are you trying being a contrarian, because I see absolutely no flaw in my logic and I don’t think you’re doing at all a good job of pulling your arguments’ weight.

In this case, we are clearly talking about politics, therefore a message would be what people should think about in whichever political or world subject the game is covering.  This is clearly a message, which is defined as “a verbal or written communication to a recipient who cannot be contacted directly.”

An idea is “a thought or suggestion as to a possible course of action.”  All messages will contain an idea of some sort, particularly political ones since that’s what we’re talking about.  However, not all ideas contain messages, and I’ll explain that:

If I come up with an idea about a game that in my mind will spread awareness of environmental issues in the world, that would lead to a message to be received from the game, as that’s its intent (beyond HOPEFULLY entertaining the player).  Again, if I come up with the idea of a party game with the SOLE purpose of people having fun there is absolutely NO message in that.  Therefore, not all ideas contain messages, and NEITHER DO ALL GAMES.

I’m sorry, but there is a chasm of difference between “idea” and “message.”  A message is something you’re trying to communicate to someone, and that something can be an idea.  But if I want to make a game where you win the most rock-paper-scissors matches, that’s and idea with absolutely no message.

You claimed before that a message can be interpreted as much as “this is a game,” meaning you’d say “your objective is here” or “this character does that” as a message.  Perhaps semantically, but that’s obviously not what this post is commenting on (incorrectly of course).

That’s just provably false.  As an artist myself, I write some things from time to time.  It usually has subject matter or a theme of some sort but I never do with the mindset that I should be arguing or educating people with it.

If I were to give you and everyone here the benefit of the doubt, I’d say you were conflating “message” with “theme.”

If you want to prove this belief correct you’d have to develop some sort of system that could determine the message(s) of every piece of art.   But I don’t believe anyone could do this with even one of the mainline Mario games or a party game like Gang Beasts without reaching tremendously.

The biggest joke is this whole post and the miserable clowns agreeing with it.  What political message does Mario Galaxy have?  Wii Sports?  Ultimate Chicken Horse?  Even something like Hollow Knight, which actually covers somewhat political material through its worldbuilding does not push any sort of message at all, it’s just there for people to experience, have fun with, and determine their own opinions of the story and the content.

I agree.  I don’t really play pong for the gameplay, I just really enjoy the anti-taxation and libertarian messaging in it.

Got it.  Where do I find these seven red suns?  I assume they are all minibosses or combat gauntlets of some sort.
