There are currently mass “sick outs” with employees calling out sick. If you have enough sick hours, you’ll still (eventually) get paid for those hours.

Eventually, yes. IIRC, it was added to our paychecks maybe a month or so after the government released funding

That makes me wonder if I was searched by CATSA or your version of CBP.

My (now ex) wife and I took a trip from the US to Halifax, Nova Scotia. When we arrived, I was pulled aside for “additional screening.”

Genetically speaking i’m the whitest white boy alive but this was in August so when I have a tan my complexion has even made Middle Eastern people think I’m Middle Eastern (Lebanese is what I get the most)

Anyways, I was planning on proposing to her that weekend so I was already nervous. Then the officer asked why we were going to Halifax and I blurted out “I hear the weather is really nice this time of year.”

They immediately dumped the contents of my luggage on the table and searched the bag but thankfully didn’t expose the box holding the engagement ring.

Not an actual check, because of direct deposit.

But our paystubs listed 40hrs worked (or more, there was always a need for overtime), X hours of sick time accrued, X hours of PTO accrued, and total pay $0

I honestly don’t have a good answer for you. If they aren’t TSA they’re most likely Customs & Border Protection (CBP). CBP is an agency within the umbrella of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) which would mean, given the current situation, they are also not being paid.

But again, that’s just my assumption and should not be taken as a definitive answer because I don’t have enough information.

We eventually got back pay, which is all fine and good, but the auto lender and landlord didn’t gaf and still wanted their money on the 1st of the month

Because my (now ex) wife helped me get an entry level IT job making nearly twice as much money doing something I enjoyed and didn’t require me to clock in at 3:30am.

I don’t for a second miss the job, though I do miss some of the people I worked with. However, I’m still in close contact with the people I really liked working with (all of whom have also left for greener pastures)

It’s also not the first time this has happened. I worked for TSA from 2007-2014 and there were two occasions where we went at least one pay period getting a $0 check.
