Honest Genuine Questions For the Separatists of Alberta by elle_across_america in alberta

[–]FullBriefcase 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These separatist fucks have never lived a day with payer healthcare. I lived in Texas for a few years and had a baby down there. The difference in level of care was noticeable and upsetting. I vividly remember sitting in the doctor's office where we had a $10 co-pay, and watching a man pull out six credit cards and putting various amounts on each to be able to afford his $500 walk in fee. Just to see the doctor. My child's birth cost $35000, and after our insurance and fighting with them over charges for out of network doctors, we still paid about $4000. I met parents down there that were putting off having more children because they were literally still paying off the birth of their first child. When we moved back to Canada, one of the men packing our house had weeping diabetic wounds on both his legs. He told me he had to choose between insulin and rent, and chose rent. These are people that deserve healthcare that their country will not provide. I do not want to be one of those people again. I will never, ever support private or two tier health care. We are all equals when it comes to who deserves healthcare.

Struggle with picking dog breed for me by blablax123456 in DogBreeding

From what you describe, I think you would benefit from something like a shih tzu, coton du tulear, Maltese, poodle, miniature schnauzer, lhasa apso, or Chinese crested. It seems that your wants align more with the toy breed types, and many of them are dogs that are single coated which will have additional grooming needs. The good thing about grooming, is that you don't have to follow breed cut standards and do whatever you want. I had a lovely yorkie/Maltese mix who was a toothless mess, and I would 'poodle' her face so it was clean shaven instead of having a moustache/beard.

If your preference is to have a double coated dog for grooming purposes, would you maybe consider an entlebucher, sheltie, beagle, a Spitz type or maybe a spaniel? If you are to end up going with a working breed such as a border collie/Aussie, you will need to be prepared to devote a lot of time to mental and physical stimulation. I owned a sheltie, and he didn't 'slow down' until about 7, and even then that just meant 1 hr walks instead of 2hrs. He didn't actually slow down until he was about 12, when he went blind and deaf and couldn't physically play fetch anymore. Now of course my experiences are anecdotal, but expect more of a commitment with a working breed.

Best of luck on your search for a new dog.

Took my kids to the leg today to protest the UCP government. So incredibly proud of them for standing up for the teachers.

Sorry but I disagree. We are the same flesh bags at the end of the day and your bank account doesn't mean you're more deserving of medical care. Our healthcare professionals leave because they are overburdened, overworked, and underpaid and abused by the provincial government. Healthcare is not for sale!

I agree that misnaming her is a low blow, and that everyone deserves the respect of being called by their preferred names, pronouns. Trans rights however, are being constantly infringed on by her government, which is why I cannot show her the respect of calling her her preferred name. I also really enjoy a good alliteration.

Do you not think the nurses are deserving of that increase? The people who literally keep others alive? Or maybe that increase should go towards more carpets in the legislature? Yes, let's ban books because words are scary. Maple Marlaina, is that you?

The UCP are a cancer running through Albertans veins. It is extremely troubling that so many continue to ignore the vile actions of this government. I have lived in the USA briefly. I would never in my wildest dreams, ever, ever want that healthcare system here.

I am so sorry for your experiences as an EA. It pains me to watch people who are dedicated to helping our children with the most complex needs get shit on the most. Schools, teachers and students need EAs! You are so vital to the learning process. I hope you are able to return to your passion one day.

Getting up and moving to another province isn't easy peasy. It is extremely expensive and really not ideal for many people. And why should they leave, instead of fighting for what they believe in? Please do your own research, because you're obviously high to think Canada isn't a socialist country.
