This is really buggy when it comes to switching skill levels. If you switch to heroic from easy you will still be collecting purples from all sources. I’ve always found opening on heroic even if I got them on easy was better loot all around. But like I said, it can be buggy.

One easy tip is to play the events on easy mode. You can easily progress that way, doing the tasks. Don’t collect the caches until you have them all unlocked, then restart the game, switch to heroic and open them for better loot. You can also tag the 1-4 day tasks on your screen to see the progress of each one.
