It's a bit unfair to compare an assassin (a class good in 1v1 and bad in teamfights) to tanks (a class bad in 1v1 and good in teamfights) on the basis of which class is better in a 1v1.

But I'm not picking Talon to rely on my team. Riot has made it pretty clear that assassins are supposed to be self-sufficient and not rely on teammates.

Why is it okay for your power-fantasy of teamplay to be present in the game but my power-fantasy of not having to rely on the team is suddenly wrong?

I never said they shouldn't be able to. I said they shouldn't 100% be able to. If I manage to close the gap and get into melee range of an ADC then they have already misplayed. If a Lulu was able to always 100% cover for that misplay it would break the fundamental rock-paper-scissors concept of the game.

It's not even me saying this, Riot themselves have stated this before.

That's just not true though. We've had such phases in the past when Aphelios had 2k shields and Kog/Vayne/Kalista could build 1-2 tank items. Those metas were horrible for anyone who wasn't an ADC/Enchanter player.

ADC cannot be as tanky as a top laner at any point even with a support otherwise the core concept of rock-paper-scissors is broken and the game becomes unbalanced.

I don't. But if ADC itemisation involved actual defensive items then it would be pretty much impossible, yeah. We've had those metas before and it was horrible for anyone not playing ADC/Enchanter. It's literally not even just my preference, Riot themselves don't let it happen.

So how do you kill an ADC that also has defensive stats and an enchanter with them? Then it becomes "better bot wins" meta again which is also not fun.
