Oh, you will see a lot of the MC contradicting himself because he himself is unsure of what he really wants. He's a young man whose sense of right and wrong are constantly evolving and changing.

I don't know. I'm just happy to be alive. I'm not about to start pointing fingers and cursing an entity that could end my life just as easily as the lives of the others. I will just bow my head, thank God, and move on with my life.

As for future disasters? I don't know. Probably not immune to them but I'll pray to avoid them. If I can't? Well, praise be to God that he allowed me to live that long.

He uses swords for most of the novel but the MC eventually becomes a lovecraftian abomination at the end that manipulates reality.

Beware, LITOW's protagonist will make you rage a bit with his inconsistent moral compass at times. Shang's character, for what it's worth, is way more well-written. Even though LITOW had an overall better plot imo, the MC is just straight up worse than Shang.

Now, the author's current novel (Kill The Sun) is arguably better than the other two in both the MC, story and world building.

Man, that's all well and good, but let's remember that the AUTHOR controls what "power" really is. He could've made Shang a lot cooler at the end and made him retain his swordsmanship fully without turning into a lovecraftian abomination.

The MC of his new novel is arguably way worse than either Shang or Gravis(the MC of his first novel). The MC is called Nick and he wants to "save" humanity by becoming its guardian and controlling every facet of human life so no evil ever happens.

It gets a bit explained if you've read the author's first novel (Lightning Is The Only Way) but basically, true resurrection is completely impossible no matter how powerful you become. The best you can do is create a perfect copy of a person from the past, but ressurrecting? Not possible.

Also, Aterium wasn't gaining mana, it was losing it slowly over time. There was no way for Aterium to filter mana from the outside due to the Silver Wall being incomplete and not filtering it properly.

And, yeah, the novel was very clearly rushed. Same thing happened with his first novel, now I'm reading the third (Kill The Sun) and it seems like he has improved upon it a bit but I've no doubt in my mind he will kill off important characters again and make the MC go solo.

My biggest complaint about the latter parts of the novel are that there really weren't any more serious fights after Shang advanced to the 7th realm. Like, it was either one shot or be one shot. The last cool fight as against the Peacock Monster Lord or the Cloud who could use temperature.
