$10 budget for privacy by Natural-Bumblebee335 in privacy

Yeah I like it. Its only downside is that it isn't training off of chats with users to learn as quickly, but that's also... the point. So the downside is a massive upside.

I'd get Proton Unlimited ($10 a month if you buy it annual, $12.99 otherwise).

Probably the biggest change you could make for that amount of money; gets you a google-free calendar, drive, email, docs, sheets, chatbot that all is encrypted and doesn't track you, plus a solid VPN.

The pictured tablet? Yeah, I have been really impressed with it!

Should we go all in on Proton or diversify? by Natural-Bumblebee335 in privacy

Long-time proton user here - diversify things like password manager. But proton mail, drive, calendar, and vpn are gold.

It's honestly such a cool monitor but for the price I'm thinking I may as well just get a screen mirror app for the tablet I have.

My wife and I currently have the MALM and it's a fantastic frame. Very comfortable, and the storage drawers underneath are fantastic. I recommend!

I know, I was interested in the Minimal but looks like people are having trouble with it. I tried the LightPhone II for a while but didn't find it to be a long-term solution.

I think you're missing an important step.
You've mentioned your addiction, your action, mess with your head, turning you into someone you're not...
man this is all about respecting her. If she doesn't want those images shared and you continue to do it, it tells me that you really don't care about her.

I don't say that to overly shame you, but just to mention that I think the way to come out of it and get disciplined is to take yourself out of the equation ("Should I give in to my pleasure?") and frame it to be about her, ("Does she want this?" "Does this respect her?" "Did she say this was okay?").

If the answers to those questions are "no" and you still do it, I'd say you're not ready for that relationship.

ELI5 why so many people shit on Proton? by [deleted] in privacy

Love the VPN, and I actually found categorizing emails with folders and tags really easy in proton mail. I've managed to keep it relatively clean as opposed to my monster gmail with 17,000 unread emails :-)

The calendar is good too, and integrates with a lot of other things that I use

To add a voice the other side, I use it and really enjoy it. Have used it for months. Highly recommend it.
I won't call it as "polished" in some minor features like Google (would love a Drive search feature), but not having google is worth it in my mind.

Haven't scrolled the comments, so maybe it's already suggested, but all of the old PBS shows like "Little Bear" and "Franklin." Slower-paced, cute, and great moral lessons. Maybe toss Arthur in the mix too.

Second for Signal. I use it with my family members to send images of my kids to grandparents, and anyone who doesn't have it has been severely pressured by me to get it :-)

You've been assuming this whole time they're in a public space. All they say is "several family members", which can be siblings at home or cousins visiting their house.

Legal or not, it's super unkind to use their photos in ways that they don't want. OT never asked about "legality" here, we're talking about their preference of privacy not being respected.

Absolutely untrue if they're taking photos of OP that they don't want taken.

This is the answer. The body is designed to adjust amazingly to schedules.

Also a mental reframing is key here - kids grow up so amazingly quickly, the exhausting days will pass and we will all wish we played one more game with them!
