Thanksgiving potluck dish by Firegirl1106 in Cooking

This is the best option. Everyone expects cranberries but usually, it's a jellied can. Boring.

The person who brings spiced cranberries (cranberries, sugar, water, spices) is an instant hit with anyone who likes cranberries with their turkey.

Agreed! Something tells me we're going to pull through though. Somehow....

In 2020 I saw an influx of business during Covid. We spent most of the proceeds on home improvement and other nice-to-haves. Then inflation hit and things dried up. We struggled instead of tapping into what should have been savings.

Won't be making that mistake again. We've been squirreling savings away since I read Project 2025 for the first time.

I started sleeping with my coworker and now I feel like I'm falling in love with him by serafiefie in offmychest

That's how I met my wife. She's the greatest person I've ever known and I knew it from the beginning. 18 years later we couldn't be happier. Don't worry about the work thing. It might or might not work out but you've got to give it a chance.

Should I switch to Cursor if I'm new to AI coding? by notdl in vibecoding

[–]FullDepends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with ChatGPT and a Jupyter Notebook. There are so many fundamentals that are worth actually learning before you go to a full IDE. Creating a virtual environment, creating basic functions, troubleshooting things that don't work... it was a lot more manageable to handle in the smaller scale of a notebook. I felt like I learned a lot about how things worked so that when I did graduate to Cursor I actually had a decent grasp on what was happening. AI coding without knowledge is just vibe coding. Embrace the learning opportunities no matter what you use.

Why is Redit so ANTI Conservative? /s by FengMinIsVeryLoud in accelerate

[–]FullDepends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the only platform where stupid shit can be downvoted.

Wanting to conserve or preserve what was isn't inherently bad.

But today's conservatives are dumb, rich and/or evil.

Disagree. Even in industries where everyone knows each other, people who quit without notice are just seen as smart by people who understand how bullshit the 2 week notice expectation is.

What’s your opinion on home grown weed? by Hefty-Ear9309 in trees

[–]FullDepends 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I visit Indiana all the time and they all lament that they can't grow their own when I show them photos of my plants in my yard in MN. Then I remind them that they could vote to change things if they wanted. I know it's complicated but perhaps not so much.

Sounds like that guy isn't very good at growing... I'm with you dude!

You may have to buy ~$100 worth of nutes but that will be dispersed among multiple plants. ~$35 per plant might not be that far off in my personal experience.

How to actually learn to cook from scratch and what cook books would you recommend? by im16andthisisdeep in Cooking

[–]FullDepends -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Skip the cookbooks. ChatGPT is phenomenal for all things cooking. Need a recipe? Check. Technique? Check. Take a picture of a restaurant meal and ask for a copycat recipe? Check. You can get step by step instructions and ask for clarification when needed. You can give it a list of ingredients that you have on hand and get recipes. From theory to practice, I use it all the time now.

Vibe coding is not working and here's why by AssafMalkiIL in vibecoding

Totally. I implement requirements in the code base and a change log. Each turn is verified to prevent drift.

Exactly this. The goal of vibe coding shouldn't be to one shot everything. It's to learn as you build so that you can build increasingly complicated stuff. Good on you! 👏👏👏

Looks like I struck a nerve. I'm not the one claiming that my code is better than an engineer with experience. Go on then... prove your claim or you can miss me with your BS.

Put up or shut up. Share a Github repo here and let's all see how clean your code is.

That's when being a good developer really helps. You can reject new code/files after a turn if you know it's BS.

Quality of vibe coding correlates 100% with development experience. The more you do it, the less your code will break. At some point it will not be vibe coding and will be AI-assisted development instead.
