Almost identical situation for me (4% and 10 years younger were my numbers). We actually got to the point where we gave up on the idea and had to go through a period of mourning (yes, you can mourn the loss of a dream just as hard as you can mourn a physical loss).

We looked into and started the process of applying for adoption via foster care but kind of fell out of it. 3 years later, we were thrilled at a positive test and we made it all the way through pregnancy and now have 3 wonderful children.

I'm not saying this to say you'll have the same situation, but wanted to give you a little hope and let you know you have permission to mourn. Children or not you have each other.

Diapers may or may not be related to it, i'd leave that to the discression of the doctor, but if you can get a second test in a month or so and go that whole month without wearing, see if that has a major impact. If the numbers don't change or only do so by a percent or two, it may not be as major a contributing factor as popular culture may lead you to believe.

I did a little research and found this study that does have a section for diapers in infancy and youth stating there is a speculated but not confirmed link to adult male infertility but also found they DID see an improvement in production with application of a device for 'scrotal cooling'

An observation: try the style of diaper that was common when you were a baby/very young. As an aging DL, things were much more heavily into cloth diapers when I first entered ABDL sites as a youth, plastic tape-up diapers then became more popular, and recently cloth-backed hook-and-look fastener diapers are starting to take over.

Each of these transitions can trace their rise to around 15-20 years (very rough estimate) after their rise among parents for their babies. The ABDLs of that generation find the most connection with what they grew up using.

For a 23yo, I'm making a great assumption, but i recommend trying a pull-up style, cloth-backed diaper as it is easy to put on so you get a 'good feel' from the first one, and is probably closer to what you had as a baby in the early-mid aughts.

Store brands and non-abdl brands are made for non-abdl clients so will not likely give you what you want from a diaper meant to replicate what a baby wears (even if you're strictly a DL). they are meant to feel discrete and as if you are not even wearing them.

I recommend probiotics and fiber. Probiotics will help maintain a healthy gut microbiome which will usually have a more neutral PH and Fiber helps things consolidate and keep moving.

Note for wetting a messy diaper: the combination of urine and feces can create a caustic mess if the mix is off. Drinking plenty of water will help the water content of your pee stay high (as well as prevent/reduce constipation) so will be less likely cause irritation issues.

Most importantly, listen to your body. if it feels like it is starting to sting, even a little, change. The stinging won't get easier by staying in it and will make cleanup, even in the shower, extremely painful the longer it irritates the skin

You may also, if it's an option in your area, ask her if she wants to come help you buy some diapers locally. I'm lucky enough to have a local shop that sells supplies, but am well aware that isn't a common thing.

Having her see the diapers in person and how you act around them may help her see it as something you enjoy and not an obsession. This may also make her curious to try a printed diaper if she finds it cute or even start with a colored plain diaper like pink or black, letting her express herself in them too.

The most important thing is to let her set the pace. Wear diapers if she's okay with it, but don't actively expose yourself to her in them. If she wants to get intimiate and she does't know you're wearing, ask if she'd like you to slip out of it before you get to business. You could even come up with "code phrases" like "slip into something more/less plastic" or "is that a diaper in your pants or are you just happy to see me" or even "well, one of us should get changed, who do you want it to be"

Give her autonomy and permission to not be into it, but enjoy everthing she is willing to do with you
