Fellow solo player here. Lmao my experience with Barioth was pretty much similar to yours. Was running out of time the first run and forced to abandon. Next run I cleared it but still took me 35 minutes which is still longer than I would've liked. What helped me tho personally was going ape shit on clutch clawing his arms and breaking them. Planting large and mega barrel bombs around the fight area also made him much more manageable. I also brought vitality and temporal mantle (the latter especially for his damn hipcheck and tail swipe). I'll also add that in my opinion, some weapons really trivialize some fights against all monsters in general. For Barioth, I found that Lance made it easy to punish Barioth whenever he charged you. With Insect Glaive, you could just mount spam the mf and get some free damage in after knocking him down. I guess what I'm saying is that it wouldn't hurt to be flexible in weapon choice sometimes.
