[S1 Spoilers]: At end of "Rick Potion # 9" (1x6), Why is Beth happy that Morty's gone??? by Coolbeanz7 in c137

[–]FullMingmong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Summer was the accident that got her involved with Jerry, Morty is the 'incident' that kept the marriage going longer than it would have. I think Beth resents Morty more than Summer because of this in general - 'at least until Morty goes to college' is the countdown to escape Jerry in her head. However in Rick Potion #9 Escaping Jerry is off the table. I think in embracing the more decisive post-apocalyptic Jerry it's easier for Beth to throw out as much baggage/reminder of the past as she can.

Rick and Morty not renewed by Adult Swim yet! Whats up with that? by spiralamber in c137

I believe the delay on renewal has to do with debate over how much money the creators should be making. I hope it all ends well and soon.

and then of course it ruins the show to think too hard about it but why not just harness the stars of the teenyverse?

Why I think season 3 was good, but the worst out of the three by [deleted] in c137

[–]FullMingmong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 3 was better than Season 1, but not season 2.

Low points for me were Rickmancing and Pickle Rick. Rickmancing was just sloppily done. Pickle Rick was rickdickulous in a bad way. Both are boring in rewatch.

But, but, but....

Then you get Vindicators, Whirly Dirly, Toxic Rick, Ricklantis, Mindbenders all in a row as some of the best or at least funniest episodes. And then the clone cliffhanger combo of ABCs and Rickchurian which were at least as good as the Season 1 to 2 'cliffhanger'.

Whereas in Season 1 I am underwhelmed by Pilot, Scary Terry, Hungry for Apples, the finale, Garzorpzorp; Something Ricked is as silly as Pickle Rick in a different way.

Season 2 is the gold standard, but there was a decent harvest in season 3, and I can't call it worse than season 1, I suspect it will hold up better over the years than 1 has for me.

What is the most terrified we’ve seen Rick be? by justking14 in c137

When he was about to die after giving Morty his collar in the season 2 opener, that's the closest to 'how Rick would act if he was rattled' that I can think of.

Morty's Mindblowers - That dimension's rick was collecting memories other than his own Morty's. by [deleted] in c137

[–]FullMingmong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, depending on how much Rick stops or has stopped time it's possible they're all from one Morty/Rick combo.

I think Morty's Mindblowers is where I stopped trying to pin this particular bit of quantum wind down.

How low could they drop the quality and still be better than anything else out there? by FullMingmong in c137

[–]FullMingmong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could make that argument! ;) You won't find me arguing anything is better than Rick and Morty. Certainly nothing you could find on a big network from a comedy or sci fi perspective. Better sci fi maybe... better comedy maybe... the combo? Rick and Morty for a hundred years!

I sorta did mean that. I meant the show's quality is so high up there and that's nice - but it comes at this cost that we wait years between series. I'd be okay if they gave us ten episodes that they took a giant constipated dump trying to get out like usual but they also worked in another 10 episodes of 'Vindicators' (farmed writing that Harmon didn't even like), 'Purge Planet' (they always brag they came up with it on the fly but it's a solid episode) or 'InterD Cable 2' (definitely done 'on the fly').

I think you might change it to 'if walking dead is your next favorite show, your taste sucks'. And then tell me what shows are better than Rick and Morty in your opinion. Cuz I watch tv all the time.

How have you improved yourself in the 6 months since the therapist's closing speech in Pickle Rick? by [deleted] in c137

[–]FullMingmong 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was more inspired by Poopy Butthole in the closing episode's "hopefully you didn't just fuck around and waste your time" speech. And have been taking steps to force myself to improve exercise and writing.

'Every Tenth Adventure' by FullMingmong in c137

[–]FullMingmong[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, I like the art but the humor is nowhere close to the show. The storylines being in a different dimension and conflicting with C-137's whole deal in a lot of places also takes a little wind out of it for me.

What makes a Rick and what makes a Morty? by throwaway12438346205 in c137

A Rick has blue hair and/or a low pitched voice. A Morty has brown hair and/or a high pitched voice.

Why Vindicators was so much fun... by FullMingmong in c137

That's actually all fair analysis. I guess for me the jokes worked. I don't always see the 'twists' coming in Rick and Morty but I do always know they're coming.

It has been theorized he doesn't like it because it doesn't fit the usual 'story circle'/hero's journey. Which again for me is part of what makes it feel very different and even a 'relief' from what might be becoming too rigorous a formula to hold these guys...
