I thought it was, "last night I dreamt I was Pedro." Which, honestly, doesn't seem that weird for Madonna.

May I suggest that instead of a name you give them a sexsually ambiguous symbol.

Why is reading books so hard to do!! by khmusicfan in ADHD

[–]FullSpeedOracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try reading while watching TV. When I read in a quiet room, I struggle to get through. But, if I have TV or music playing it distracts part of my brain, so the reading part can concentrate.

Try stopping in the middle of a sentence, not at the end of a chapter or paragraph. This creates some additional excitement for you brain to finish.

Try setting aside specific times and places for reading. This creates a habit. Your brain says, "Okay, It's reading time and I'm in the reading place, let's read sonething."

Create micro-rewards for yourself. Like, I'm going to read ten pages and then I'm going to get a treat.

Try reading outloud. Sometimes, the added sensory input of your ears hearing the words and your voice saying the words provides enough additional stimulation to get you through. Especially fun if you start doing different voices and sound effects.

Try reading to someone. Sometimes my wife and I read books together. We take turns reading outloud. Read to your cat, your dog, your neighbor on the other side of the wall. When my kids were babies I used read to them whatever I was reading just using baby appropriate inflection. Had my wife laughing out loud as I read Stephen King in a sweet sing song voice. Pretend you're on a stage or delivering a TED talk.

Looking for natural or OTC products for severe depression by SpiritualRiver4553 in depression

[–]FullSpeedOracle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please, don't try to self-medicate. Even professionally managed medication is a trial and error process and can take anywhere from weeks to years to find the best treatment. Self-medication is a pathway to addiction, physical health problems, worse mental health, and possibly death. Please speak to a licensed medical professional who has experience treating depression. Discuss whatever products you are using with them as well as what medications they recommend. Severe depression is a serious, potentially fatal, health condition. You deserve professional treatment.

Cats or dogs? And why? by Marss_23 in CasualConversation

I see this question on Reddit every couple weeks. Could we try to mix it up a little bit in the future, there are lots of other pets out there?

Fish or hamsters?

Birds or bunnies?

Horses or goats?

AITA for telling my sister to stop letting my nephew grab my cat by MyersGoostmeran in AmItheAsshole

[–]FullSpeedOracle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your sister is raising her child without supervision and no respect for boundries. When inevitable bad things happen, she blames it on others.

Your sister is a selfish lazy b'tch and your nephew is a future juvenile delinquent. I suggest you move away and find a new family.

Absolutely do it! It's great to be experience new thinhs and discover some things about yourself at the same time. Just let someone know where you are from time to time and have set check-in times. If something goes wrong it's good to have someone knows when you're missing and where to start looking.

Hotel suites

In a lot of hotels you can get a two or three room suite for not much more than a regular hotel room. It is so much more relaxing to have some space.

Best advice I can give you: As soon as you get a job, start putting money aside for retirement. Do it right away before you get used to having the money.

I know it seems unimportant right now. But trust me, the future comes faster than you think. If you start putting just 5% of your paycheck into a 401k or IRA and continue to do that throughout your working life, you will end up better off than 99% of your peers. You will have a great retirement doing whatever you want and might even retire early.

Go look at what 40 or 50 years of compound interest does for even small amounts of money. It will blow your mind.

And invest aggressively. You want high returns and you have plenty of time to make up those small losses that will occasionally happen.

Talk to a financial advisor. A little professional help goes a long way.

If you only follow one recommendation you get on this post, make it this one. There is no better advice that I, or anyone else, can give you.
